... the gangway. Not good for stragglers! Our ride was about two hours with one intermediate stop. On its west side Santorini rises dramatically out of the sea up steep 1000 foot cliffs. It is a flooded caldera - a collapsed volcanic crater. Some think it might be Plato's Atlantis. We landed at the New Port where a bus met us and somehow maneuvered the twisty turns up the cliff to Fira, the main town and the location of our hotel. (Those who arrive at the old ...

Someone helps you into the saddle at the bottom and off you go, no guide, no reins, no nothing. These stubborn mules just head on up ...

... to stay here for a while longer.

Sharon found some jewelley and other little goodies to take home. The whole day was remarkable.

That evening we sat by the pool back aboard and sipped on our Caribbean Sunset cocktails with Santorini far in the distance. Three loud blasts from the bridge and off we go again heading to Athens overnight. It is time to get dressed to take on another elaborate dinner. Such is life.
