... have a stupid 2.5 hour layover followed by another tedious 2.5 hour flight. I know I’m being impatient. I know I should just be thankful that I’m finally on my way to Japan in the first place, but right now I’m a grump and I’m tired of traveling. On the first day of the trip, we visited Matsumoto Castle and walked around the streets of Matsumoto, tasting some local foods including basashi, sanzokuyaki and sansei, local sake. On the next day, we drove along Venus Line, stopping at Utsukushigahara Highland and Mt Kirigamine.

Saiyonara Nihon!

... for a DIY sushi buffet. Despite Josh's best efforts, we were definitely grateful for Kumiko-san's translation skills and had a lot of fun. The next day we met up with the same people to get a back stage visit to Tokyo's number 1 art university. The talent there, especially in the sculpture sides, was just depressingly good. We saw more of Tokyo and then headed to akihabara the tech and nerd part of Tokyo, it was crazy ...
