The flight from Perth to Singapore takes the same as from Brisbane to Perth - Five and a half hours!
After the four weeks in Australia we decided to finish our trip off with a week in Singapore to get a final Asian touch. We opted to head out to Bintan Island in Indonesia, for some sun, sand and sea, for the first half of the week and then finish off in Singapore.
Its under an hour's fast ferry ride to Bintan Resorts from the Tanah Merah terminal which is not far from Changi Ai...
Well here we are at our final destination. We left Avignon and drove to Anse just north of Lyon for one night and then on to Strasbourg. There was a language mix up at the little local restaurant and I ended up ordering the local specialty - unfortunately it was a sausage of pigs intestines! I must improve my french before we go back. Then a heap of crazy french Norton motor bike enthusiasts turned up and it could have been a big night but we had to get up early for a long haul in Big Mama. T...

... people who drive you from place to place on the back of a golf buggy (am thinking that may be my new career!) - was so cool!
The villa we had was in the rainforest and unlike Batam the roof was connected to the rest of it, so no fear of the storms! The room was amazing and we had a jacquzzi on our balcony. All the pools were the type that look like they go ...
... necessary. So the immigration desk had to reopen their gate to let us through and as we ran to the gate where the ferry was leaving, we saw a huge line up of people waiting to get on board. In no way possible did we come close to missing the boat - the line up took like twenty minutes to move everyone on board. Maybe the workers there just like seeing tourists getting worked up. haha I am still in awe that I didn't collapse right there on the spot...
So we took a very rough ...

Bintan, Riau, Indonesia shivva14... sweep their porches, and women were strolling by, but I could help but think that it was on purpose. I think that news of the American visitors had spread, and the whole island knew we were there and came out - to see and be seen. The jungle was thick, and men with machetes were trying to keep their lawns under control. It was dirty, it was poverty-stricken, but it was normal, and human at the same time. As we were coming back to the docks, many more ...
Tanjungpinang, Riau, Indonesia dyer0930... bedsheets and pillows and snippets of animal planet (it was the Valley of the Wolves).. We were to leave Bintan on the last ferry at about 7pm but the checkout was 12noon (extended to 1pm).. What are we to do in between leh? So a brilliant plan was hatched: Have a hearty breakfast! Eat as much as we can so that we wouldn't need to have lunch and can save $$$! Go swim in the pool ...
Bintan, Indonesia gin_gy... and Jim had an after dinner cigar. Sunrise was around 5 a.m. and I was up and ready for it - it was really nice and reminded me of the sunsets we have in Costa Rica off of our balcony. We were surprised to see how much the tides had receded over night. What appeared to be an island the day before was now reachable completely by land. The boulders that people were swimming around the evening before were now well out of the reach of the Sea. It was very ...
Bintan, Indonesia jimstephkrueger... of Harbour Bay which is its location bunch up, and is now served by Wavemaster ferry). Besides Batam Center, also there is port of ferry in Mussel which also serve the target of Singapore, but its location farther and its cab price even also will be costly definitely more
Batam, Indonesia bonano... and Eddie, a friend of our wakeboard instructor / boat driver (Gary). A top-notch Mastercraft, used by US super-star Parks Bonifay when he competed in Asia. A quick provided breakfast or curry and we were on the water...and what water! 10 km of absolute glass - warm salt water....WOW... heaven ! We were 5 and I was the only experienced boarder. Everyone had a good time and got up for a bit. It was incredible getting out there again. I boarded and then ...
