... driving through the empty streets of Bali that late at night. Apparently Bali has a stray dog problem, and we definitely saw that as we drove. In places there were huge packs of 15-25 animals wandering the streets. Kind of glad we were in a vehicle.

We made a quick stop at the last house on the road to the start to pick up our guide, then made it to the parking lot. This trail starts at the Pasar Agung temple on the slopes of the mountain at ...

When it reached Butterworth I took the ferry over to Penang and stayed at the same guest house as before, they were delighted to see me back and couldn't believe I was now cycling up to Phuket. It turned to giggles when they laid out paper thin mats and tiny blankets for us to use. We were certainly going to have great sleeps tonight. NOT! Although it will be one night I'll remember for a long time.

With that we settled in and were given tea and cookies just as the skies opened up and the heavy rains set ...

... only found in a few places. But why need internet if the jungle is right in front of you! So I went on a jungle trek for two days. In this National Park we can see orangutans (North Sumatra and Borneo are the only places these apes live). Compared to the other jungle trek I've done, this one was quite tough; path were sometimes really narrow and I saw many places where one misstep could lead to bad accidents. But everyone survived, thanks to the great guides. If I ...
