... They pointed out mouse deer (which were not mousey at all), a leopard and a plant that you can eat when lost in the bush. The local also had some crazy huge ant bite his pant leg; the ant does not let go until it is dead! We made it out alive and chilled on the dock with the locals before crawling to the comfort of our klotok. Basically, this was the best trip ever, and we highly recommend it next time you are hanging out in Indonesia looking for something adventurous to ...

... and Lennea was trying to contact the guy that she had booked the house from, but there was no immediate email, so we asked the lady if she could try calling the number attached to his listing. ... looked pretty funny to see us all pick different paths of least of resistance while maintaining at least two or if we were lucky three points of contact.

After what felt like forever we had made it down safely and were told only two more crossings before the river, but nothing as steep as what we had just tackled. So after a long pause to let our legs recover from the shaking we were climbing again. The next two paces were muted in their difficulty after what ...

... Dumai we took the bus to Medan, the capital of North Sumatra, which took 12hours. The roads in this part of Sumatra are in very bad condition and often asphalt is missing, leaving more holes than road. So it was not easy to fall asleep in that bus. In addition, there is no 'no-smoking' policy, so after a few hours it was quite smoggy in the bus...In Medan we took another bus to Bukit Lawang (only 3hours), which is the gate to the tropical rainforest. If you suffer from lack ...
