We were also informed that the King was arriving later for a ceremony so the Palace would be closing early. The complex was beautiful - so many colours and so much detail on all the buildings. Ah...Bangkok. I seem to go against the grain with this one, as unlike most of my friends I've got a real soft spot for Asia's sin city. There's something about the chaos, the in-your-face-ness, the seediness and the randomness that has always had me hooked.
Things seem to have changed round here though...dread locked hippies now share their stomping ground with flat capped wearing R'n'B gangster types and wannabe rock stars of the trilby and ...
... food for it! Paying was also hilarious - no one knew what we were saying, and we didn't understand them. But defintley over paid in the end, still only cost £1.20 for both of us - so still amazingly cheap! After this we found the river, where we got a random little boat to the otherside. We were the only tourists on the boat, and as a result kept getting asked "do you know where your going", which we just lied ...
