... of that country's massive industrial revolution. Sites such as the Three Gorges Dam, which is bigger by 50% than any other dam in the world and displaced over a million people, factory floors over a kilometre long, and the breathtaking scale of Shanghai's urban renewal are subjects for his lens and our motion picture camera. Shot in Super-16mm film, Manufactured Landscapes extends the narrative streams of Burtynsky's photographs, allowing us to meditate on our profound impact on the ...
Ningbo, Zhejiang, China happysheep... a major production centre for small and micro bearings. Like most Chinese cities in South China, this too is a city vibrating with life. NIght life is active with numerous KTV bars in operation and alongwith Chinese restaurants, the city has a fair no of KFC's , Mcdonnells and Pizza Huts. Continental food however is mainly restricted to restaurants in hotels.
Cixi, China chesterpReached Ningbo after another 4 hour bus trip, all on modern highways. 20 years ago China didnīt have any highways and today itīs a 30 000 km network, second only to the US. Ningbo is another big city, and my last stop before heading back to Shanghai and flying out.
Ningbo, Zhejiang, China sabaidii... to be about 600 years old (think Yoda in Attack of the Clones rather than Empire Strikes Back, but a little less green) watching over her fish drying in the sun. She calmly, very deliberately stood over her fish and clapped fly by fly to death without missing and tossing them on the ground. I saw her kill 3 flies in a row with 3 claps. When I looked down there were at least 7 flies lying dead on the ground all ...
Yuyao, Zhejiang, China rcys... much much better, with the climax for the last lunch before leaving on Shipu harbor - simply deli-sea-ous. We lit a bonfire in the evening like boy scouts. Fire is always captivating, and we had quite a bit of entertainment around it. The sky was clear and the stars all showed up, I checked! The 3rd of October was the big day or the only full day on the island. An adventurous ...

Ningbo, Zhejiang, China shivva14... relation to attractions or anything because we were only there for one night but we did walk to a chinese restaurant from the hotel.
We stopped off at a big open-air shopping centre in town where there was a really great shoe boutique (but unfortunately, again, they don't really cater to a size 9!) but they also sold sunglasses and other bits and peices. There was also a Watsons chemist there and a ...
... but it was only half as much fun in the light. Can't they ever get enough of selling things that people buy but never use? I honestly thought it only worked at night time and that during the daylight hour's people had more sense. Not far past the market was Zhongshan Gongyuan (park). Here we walked around its small yet shady grounds as the 'elderly peoples ...
Ningbo - Zhejiang Province, China eddakath... fee along with the entry fees to all the sits are now beyond me The bus to Ningbo cost 65 Yuan and took nearly three hours from station to station. When I arrived at the south station I grabbed a map and began the 'Cheapest Hotel Ever' Boogie! I found several I would normally stay in but I need bus fares home so I continued until I found one that I would 'not usually' stay in. It was clean and very cheap. HHHhhhmmm, there is ...
