Coral Bay 28-29/11

... snorkeller. After the boat trip we went back to the beach and snorkelled the reef
close to the shore. We saw a stringray here. We would of liked to of gone snorkelling with mantarays but it was a lot more
than the trip we did. As we are heading to Exmouth next and have an other opportunity to snorkel the reef further north we may
be lucky and see turtles, mantarays and reef sharks.

Welcome to paradise

Tourist town for snorkellling

We were happy to roll into Coral Bay but was surprised by the size of it as you enter there is a backpackers on your right and you only go down one road and it has some shops not many and 2 caravan parks on the left side of the road. We expected a small township but not as small as what we were seeing. at the end of the road is the beach and along part of the right side of the road. It looks beautiful as you drive in. we stayed at the first van park not as crowded as ...

I think I have found my favourite town in Australia! Only problem is it would cost more to get here from Sydney than Fiji or Bali so we will probably never return!!!!

Coral Bay is a tiny little beach village, set right on the Ningaloo Marine Park. We set up camp at The Peoples Park and get straight into our new favourite pastime – ...

Hitchin n' Snorkellin'

Between Couchsurfing, hitchhiking, friends of friends, and just generally meeting people; I really believe in the kindness of strangers. At least in Western Australia.

Our adventure to WA started with a gruelling trek from Auckland to Fremantle. 1 ride, 2 busses, 3 planes, a couple km walk and 15 hours later we arrived at Soupy! I can't think of any way better to arrive in Freo, a hippy filled suburb of Perth. Our couchsurfing host, Kath, invited us to come ...

An awesome holiday town

Low tide this morning was at 6.30am so we had to get up at 5.30am so we could get to the river in time. Unfortunately, when we got to the crossing, there was a LOT more water flowing than yesterday. So much that we couldn't drive through it!! So off we went again, back around the cape, stopping at the lighthouse for a few photos.

This did mean that we could ...

No profanities please, we're Australian

At last, we'd found picture postcard Australia. Coral Bay is a tiny village nestled next to the most pristine beach, and it didn't take us long to get out bearings and identify the most important landmark in town, namely the bottle shop. It was most definitely time to kick back with a few beers and take a little holiday from the holiday.
We pulled up into a caravan park (yes, they really do have lots of caravan parks in Oz ...

Coral Bay & Exmouth

... which we are still eating a few weeks later. We did a fair bit of four wheel driving and visited a few bays both north and south of Coral Bay to have a bit of a swim and snorkel and catch a few fish. We made a few new friends who kept the kids busy a bit and some good fishing mates for Troy at night time. The only bad thing about our stay in Coral Bay was the salt water showers and not being able to use the ...

Coral Bay

Our main goal of this trip had been to get to Coral Bay for some awesome snorkelling and so we hit the road again with Coral Bay in site! We arrived in the tiny “township”, set up camp and hit the beach. I have to say it was one of the most lovely beaches we had ever seen, with white sand and shallow still water. Even my Mum swam and she never swims in the sea! To top off the beauty, 50 metres off ...
