From minus 2 to bloody hot

... cuisine. We got Big Mama back to Munich safely and then the 12 hour flight to Singapore and a ferry ride to here last night. Needless to say we were mindless heaps by then. This is the typical tropical resort - lush and very hot and steamy. I am off to the pool shortly and then we might go feed the elephants later. W have one last night in Singapore and I expect we will do something different like eating great food. We are back in ...

Beaches in Bintan

... yelling our names and waving like crazy. Obviously we would be Victoria and Meaghan, the only two white people in the terminal and the only two dimwits who have yet to pick up their tickets. So we rushed over there, gave our passports, etc and then they sent us off on our way while yelling "One minute, gate closed, one minute, gate closed!" I don't know what made them come to the conclusion that that would give us any relief or help in any way possible but they surely thought it ...

20 Hours in Indonesia

... sights, and arranged transport for us. He interpreted for us. He told us stories. All I can say is that our experience in Indonesia would have probably been decidedly negative without him, but with him, it was a wonderful, eye-opening one. So, Didi took us out last night for a real Indonesian dinner. Served like dim sum, they lay out plates of food, you eat what dishes you like, and are charged accordingly. We had more Beef Rendang (apparently a ...

3 Rounds of Golf

... girls hit the ball farther than me, and my game never fell apart. On the last day, we played the Jack Nicklaus course for the second time. I missed a birdie put on 18 that would have put me in the 80s for the first time in my life, but I still shot a respectable 91, my best round ever. So I was happy. And it was a cool brotherly activity for me and D.

The tide was receding then and there were all these little crabs darting beneath rocks along the water edge, away from the fearsome Imp.. not knowing that the bad Imp wasn't a fan of seafood.. hee.. Brief visit of Bintan Island - Indonesia

Pulau Bintan, Sekuma, Indonesia Greetings from Bintan Island, Indonesia. We planned a little excursion from Singapore for a couple of days. We had originally wanted to take the train up to Malaysia but due to the short stay this time we decided it would be better to maybe visit one of the resort islands in Indonesia. A short 55 minute ferry ride from Singapore on a very nice ferry boat and we were here. We cleared customs and immigration, grabbed our luggage ...

... take a picnic down to the public toilets in Singapore and eat your scotch eggs off the floor, which was lucky for me as i dropped my ham and cheese sandwich on it. I made my way back to the station at about 11pm that night worn off my feet thinking that i would be happy to party my life away here until my biological clock stopped ticking - at which point i would inevitably feel the need to return home to start a family!!!!!! Notice that i'm a lone woman in ...

Boarding - school !

... to ski (slalom)...I got up single ski and had a pretty ugly but fun, long run. We boarded all day until 7 PM except for a 30 minute lunch. I took some good pictures...which I have included. I'll be heading back there for sure...so close and very fairly priced...plus if I'm stuck in Singapore with projects...this a great escape! So just a short one...that's all... I hope you're boarding or skiing at home...same same but different (as they say here)! ; )
