... a little air dryer for your backside). There's an internal fan that comes on to avoid any unpleasant odors. There's probably a button to cause wheels to appear so you can drive the thing down the street... Anyway, suffice it to say that the Japanese have advanced the technology of toilets.

Now, could somebody explain to them to adopt toilet paper with a little more heft than single ply?

Private, not a sento, but hot enough to peel paint and just the thing for sore muscles. The whole Japanese process where you shower/rinse first, then get in the tub to soak.
Nikko, Kanto, Japan jbossert...

Nikkō, Tochigi, Japan bi_xToday I went on my first outing on my lonesomen (without the aid of my guide Toshimi). I decided to go Nikko, a town north of Tokyo which features an interesting temple, a beautiful lake, and a fresh mountain air experience. After a little confusion at the train station I finally got on the right train which would take me north of Tokyo and toward my destination. Half of the fun of using the train as transportation is you get to see a ...
Nikkō, Tochigi, Japan michaelsavageAs the proverb goes, Don't say, "fine" until you visit Nikko." Was it so fine? That was the question bringing me to Nikko. Nikko is far from Tokyo and it takes more than 2 hours to get there. I took a long distance night bus from Nagoya, arriving at Tokyo at 6 in the morning and it was enogh to make it to the Tobu train from Asakusa at 7:10, arriving at Nikko 9:20 by rapid-transit train ...
Nikkō, Tochigi, Japan misocutlet... we got a combined ticket for 1000Y otherwise most temples would have cost 1300Y each. The area has been designated a World Heritage Site. The most important and famous is the Toshogu Shrine, inside the gate is a horse stable with the three wise monkeys carved, hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil. All the temples were very nice and not very crowded and they were surrounded by moss covered stone walls and fences.

Nikko, Kanto, Japan cagonu... didn:t know whether it was a man or woman. So sad. My thoughts go out to whomever their family was. So we arrived at Tokyo station (the biggest train/subway in Tokyo) for our tour which would take us to Lake Chuzen-ji , Kegon Falls and Nikko. We hooked up with Taiko (Emi's friend and her boyfriend) for the tour. So onwards we boarded and began our 2 hours of driving west from Tokyo. The tour was in Japanese but I had no problem because I could understand the jest of the conversations ...
Nikko, Kanto, Japan gumbylives... to see when they print it. Ah, the many interesting occurences of having a hot girlfriend. I guess I AM chopped liver. When we stayed at the hotel that we had decided on, we found that the woman who worked the front desk didn't speak a lick of english. One thing that i've found is that I learn languages rather well, however, I have IMMENSE problems switching between english and another language.. if I'm going to speak in one, i'll stick to one, but it's hard to flop over to another ...
