... Chris and Harry are also heading to Buzios, so we travel together. A cab ride to Novo Rio, the surprisingly modern and efficient coach terminal and we're on our way. Our three hour ride was relaxing - headed across the two kilometre Niteroi bridge - was surprised at the number of cargo and fishing boats in the bay. We passed many favelas - housing communities resembling slums that are built on the many hills surrounding Rio de Janeiro, before passing lush ...

After 23,000km onboard it was hard not to be sad to say goodbye. We did however have a mini party on the way to Rio, listening to such classics as Barry ...

Things you can buy in Rio

A travel blog entry by riogirls on Dec 14, 2006

Things you can buy in Rio: -fried cheese that tastes like pizza (available at the beach & in the club district) -toasted nuts--toasted in a little portable oven right in front of you, similar to the fried cheese. -any meat variation bbq´d on a stick (most often covered in manioc flour "farinha/farofa") -driver´s license (may explain the wild traffic) -medical license (rich kids buy them all the time---may explain rio´s hospitals) ...
