We arrived after midnight and check in was smooth and guy behind the desk pointed us towards a pizzeria where we were able to enjoy a late dinner. Then up to our room where our luggage was waiting inside a delightfully spacious and well appointed room. Breakfast the next morning was superb.

My last entry was short on photos due to download issues so this entry will catch up. Saturday saw us leaving Heidelberg after a morning visuting a Benedictine Abbey which was supposed to offer tours and beer tasting. Alas it was not to be as the tour did not start till 2pm.

So it was back to the hotel to collect our luggage and then the …

Bari is a port town just above the heel of the boot of Italy. We arrived right on schedule (2:20 PM) and took a cab to our next AirBnB in the old city. When I say old I mean old. This little area of the original Bari is a maze of tiny streets and alley ways and dates back hundreds of years. The area is pedestrian only area so we got to haul all our luggage ...

... after Croatia), chocolate, some cheeses, biscotti, and at the deli section we bought a piece of spinach and ricotta pie for dinner, (which tasted as good as it looked). The next day we wandered through the old town again and visited some of the historical sights. First the Museo Archeologico, which showed an interesting film about the history of the site, which dated back to the Bronze Age. Next, the Basilica di San Nicola, built between 1087 and 1197 to ...

... Island). Have a great tour booked.

Had some good theatre shows again, went to a Queen tribute which was pretty good.

Merv tried an expresso today. Been there done that. Don't know how they manage to drink them!. See people at cafes etc. ordering them, seem to swallow them straight down and take off again. Yuck. Think they would be well and truly wired.

Before we left this morning we walked round the garden. We know that the present owner has had it for 13 years, but we think that before that it must have been a tropical garden of some kind, as there are some very old plants, and he must have taken it over and restored it. It is lovely and very unexpected. Our bill for the B&B and the 7 dish dinner and the privilege of seeing the garden ...
