I haven't seen the chair of my dissertation, mentor and friend, Cynthia Franklin in more than 12 years and we happened upon each other in China of all places. She was travelling through the country conducting trainings. We were lucky enough to meet up in the beautiful Hangzhou - a short train ride from Shanghai. ... and we were able to see the temples, pagodas and islands. Thankfully only about 15 minutes away was the Lingyin Temple. It was pretty awesome. Caves, a river, gardens and over 500 budhha statues. That is a dumbfounding amount of buddhas in one place. We all burned incense and made a wish before bowing 3 times. I wished for a great and hassle-free time in Japan ;)! Founded in 328AD it remains one of the largest and wealthiest temples in China. ...
