... where we run back into the Calzado Romano (the Roman road). Now part of that is gone as when they built the reservoir they flooded an old Roman village. They claim to have rescued the bridge, but no one knows where it is so the story goes.

So now back on familiarly territory following what we came to follow. The sign (posted pic) says 800m to Albergue which we found out last night is indefinitely closed. We find out from others including the ...

Oh well move on. Then my buddy says he remembers me taking them off - maybe when I took a pic? - dunno which one of us is right - makes no diff - they're gone.

... its not the major road which is a little further over. Rock on!

We know we are clearly on the old Roman road here. The markers say so, but do you trust them? But alas! In the area there are hitos marked with 'Miliario (mile) XX III'. This is the mile markers in the original road of the Romans! Far freaking out! A little closer to the village we see one for the 30th mile marker. The granite post is the marker. The hito with the number is for our benefit. Check pic.

      Oh what a beautiful day!

Black start in full wet gear. Forecast is for rain. Freaking freezing wind so glad of wet gear as it stops a bit of that plus any rain that is supposed to come our way. First few kms...........bitumen!

Thankfully after negotiating the road system we enter Parque Natural de Cornalvo and a dirt road almost 20kms to our digs for tonight. Beautiful underfoot, a bit muddy in places - clearly had more rain than where we were yesterday- had to kick it off - ...

... we had headed south for the sun - the forecast for Burgos was for snow - 3c !! On reaching Burgos the weather was wet and sleety. Señor y la señora parked up - hot footed it to the renowned Cathedral and burial place of El Cid and made a note to return in warmer times.

I am used to the procedure when we park up near a large city - Señora gives me half an apple, a bowl of water and announces "We're off shopping - won't be long"!!! She thinks I'm daft - I ...
