Today we headed to Rhineland through Germany and followed the Rhine Valley. Cruised the River Rhine, past villages & vineyards,viewed Heidelberg castle.

Still settling in to life on the run, but having a great time. Spent some time wandering through the streets of Boppard. Loved the character of the buildings.

We stopped in for lunch at the local restaurant and checked out the view from the top of the castle wall, which is pretty much an empty shell these days. The catholic church was quite quaint inside, but we had to keep moving on.

... Around the river bend, the Reißinsel is closed off from March to the end of June so that the local birds can breed. The Germans even have to organise their nature!

It sort of reminded me of the wildly expensive photograph by Andreas Gursky called Rhein II, which was photoshopped to hell to make it technically perfect, but in my opinion completely boring.
