    ... We stayed clear of the left lane for the most part and did remark that three hot machines blew by us(on each others tail) as if we were standing still and we were doing 130 kmh. Some things never change!!!

    As I write, we are enjoying a refreshment in our Hotel zum Muehle located on the Rhine River. A wonderful setting but not enough good light for pics when we arrived. Tomorrow after breakfast (our standard routine) will work much better. We have ...

    Early this morning, about 4.30, we sailed passed Frankfurt and onto Cologne, berthing at about 1pm. We opted for the city walking tour which was about 1.5 hour duration. We learnt about the history of Cologne, or Koln as it is called in Germany. With a population of 1 million, it's the 4th biggest city in Germany (behind Berlin, Hamberg, Munich).     Sailed all day and arrived Cologne at around 3pm. As we approached, Cologne Cathedral loomed large, dominating the skyline. Upon docking we caught the Avalon bus into the old town. Our guided tour started in the Cologne Cathedral square. It certainly is a fine example of the best of Gothic architecture. It's UN heritage listed and tells the story of the history of the city.
