Today I bus to Frankfurt. I've been there before a long time ago when I worked for Penguins doing the book fair. I'd seen a little of the city then but it has grown in stature since and is more of a financial hub. It laden with foreigners it's not unlikeable though and has a lively atmosphere. Like Berlin there are some amazing smells around the city but also like ...

I decided it was time to write a more "domestic" post. We haven't gone anywhere exciting since Paris, but I've been spending a lot of time planning out the next few trips. With the holidays coming up, the enthusiasm is ramping up for the Christmas Markets. It is all the Germans we know are talking about, besides the current immigrant situation...So, I decided to really immerse myself in European Christmas culture. The scenery was picturesque and a good snapshot of the traditional past. It so happened that there was a special cycling event along the river sides as well. It was very warm waiting for the cruise to start but a nice cool breeze was a relief ...

... The Austria Trend Hotel at approx 6pm. After unpacking, answering emails and showering I walked to a local resturant. The proprietor suggested that I not look at the menu as he could tell what I liked. I was game so I let him chose for me. He served me a mixed meat grill with a horseradish sauce, flat bread, onion and a capsicum chutney. It was delicious and I washed it down with a Sarajavo Premium ...

As we headed off to Germany it was a long, adventurous, and exciting journey. It wasn't exciting because the seats were comfortable, because they weren't and the space was tight. Not because the airline fed me two delicious meals, or that I got to watch movies the entire time. Those things were decently a plus, but what made this experience so great was how I got to watch closely, from my window seat, all the different lit up countries I passed over. ...
