The Cathedral took 632 years to complete. During the war, 90% of the central city was destroyed. Eau de cologne was originated here in 1709 by the Farina family. They have excavated the Jewish settlement a little more than on my last trip and plan to open an underground museum within 2 years. We visited 7 Christmas markets as the weather was nice. Low 40s and breezy. We also went to the chocolate ...

Bars were dark and played strange music but local beer was very nice. I had to try the typical german shnapps which was actually nice as well.

Back to the crowds and another Christmas market.. Complete with ice skating rink, ferris wheel and numerous festive attractions.. One fellow cutting tree trunks into Xmas statues, animals etc has a captive audience. Being Saturday ...

... am a huge fan of the "go cup" in the US, and walking around town or sitting with a beer people watching is a lot of fun. So, I stopped in a store and grabbed a bottle from the cooler, paid, and opened it with the bottle opener hanging from the door. On down the street we found the girls some ice cream, both ordering mint chocolate chip. That was it for the day, back to the room for a good nights sleep with AC, on what has to be one of Germany's hottest summer day.
