Today starts off with a lot of blue people milling around the square with the giant smurf. It is global celebrate smurf day, unfortunately we were off to catch a bus into the the country side of Belgium so we were unable to join in.

Last night the day ended with a thunder storm. We woke up to the same weather conditions. At least it is cooler. We are travelling to Brussels today, the cooler weather is a relief from the heat of the last few days, and we will be on the train for the morning arriving in Brussels in the afternoon.
Arrived Brussels Central (there are a few …

... 3:30 and ended up with too much time once again but that was okay. We hung around, ate our bagels, used our 30 minutes of wifi and were off to Brussels! The flight was only about 45 minutes so that was good! Once we landed in Brussels we took a train to the station nearest to our hotel, checked in and napped for an hour or two because we were exhausted. We then went out and looked for some food and went to explore. We had quite a bit of trouble figuring out where we should ...

Large rooms, bathroom spacious, shower very small, free wifi, door on bathroom, (not like our last hotel) rooms a good size. There is a safe in the room. Wifi very slow. Restaurant not up to the standard of the hotel, although it is a very pleasant atmosphere.

Great weekend get away
We spent a weekend in late Dec here. Great location very close to Grand Place and main shopping area behind hotel. Staff were slow but very pleased with the room and good breakfast with hot and cold buffet although smoking in breakfast room was unpleasant. For the money 54 pounds was excellent value. Definitely recommend. Had the best sleeps at this hotel. Very comfortable bed and complete darkness with drapes closed.
Worst stay in Brussels in the last years
Great rooms and great rates - I agree - but inexistant service, the staff is entirely helpless when under stress. Impolite, no smile receptionists and no management available in case of a problem with your room. No wake-up calls, no luggage carriage except if you travel as a group.
Extremely expensibe breakfast for little value (no service, malt coffee from a single coffee machine, aso.)
Never again - the Metropole hotel is located next door, offering splendid rooms, great weekend rates and a first class service!!
We stayed at the NH Atlanta in Early December 2004.
The hotel was booked via the website for the hotel group which proved to be less expensive than some other hotel internet sites. All areas of the hotel were clean and modern and the location was convenient to railway stations, shops and restaurants. The buffet breakfast was well presented and the staff continuously replaced items as they ran low. I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
Stayed at the Atlanta over the Xmas market time and it was lovely. The hotel is on the level of a 5*. The rooms are huge and very nicely done inside. The breakfast was vast as well with a wide selection. Will be staying here again this year.
Right where you need to be
This hotel was great. We stayed for a weekend and found nothing wrong at all. The room was very spacious and the shower was amazing! I don't think I've had a better shower in a hotel! Staff were very friendly and accomodating. The internet rates for the hotel were excellent, especially for what you'te getting: a 4-star hotel, right where you need to be in the centre of Brussels.
The main shopping street is literally a 30 second walk from the front door. Our room looked out over the shopping street and even though you would expect there to be a lot of noise during the day, there wasn't. Not that you'd be spending much of the day in your hotel room! I would highly recommend this hotel. The only worry you would have during your stay in Brussels is choosing which beer to drink.
A genuine 4-star hotel.
My wife and I have just enjoyed 6 days at this excellent hotel. It is ideally situated for both shopping and sightseeing, as well as being close to a main-line rail station. (And the rail services in Belgium are first-class.)
The rooms are large, clean comfortable and well-apointed.
This is a genuine 4-star hotel and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Very nice first class hotel in every way. Excellent location, close from the main shopping area and sights of the city, only a few minutes to walk from the Grand Place (main square).
There are large American groups staying at the hotel, you feel somehow "exotic" if you don't belong to the tour group... nevertheless, I enjoyed my stay very much at this hotel.
An excellent hotel, very classy, almost bordering on snooty. This is mostly a business hotel, so don't expect a lot of activities, but it is VERY nice. Marble staircases, and crystal chandeliers, and brass trim everywhere. They even have a pillow service, if you find pillow is not acceptable, and they will pick up your shoes and have them shined! It is right next to a very good shopping district.
A fine place
This is a true 4 star hotel in an older building in an excellent location. The rooms are large and freshly renovated. Everything was extremely clean and well maintained. Despite the location in the middle of everything the rooms are quiet. The front deak staff was somewhat overwhelmed at check-in and check-out. The breakfast room on the 9th floor offers an excellent view and a very good, but expensive, buffet breakfast.
