Two things I didn't know - they can turn the windmill to face into the wind, and they add sailcloth to the propellers (wings, as they call them) to catch more wind. Amsterdam and last full day in this lovely city.
We spent all day at the Rijksmuseum which has the largest collection of Dutch paintings in the world. It was the best museum we have ever seen.
Purpose built in 1885 and well run and magnificent to view such Dutch favourite artists as Rembrandt ,Vermeer ,Avercamp, to name a few.
The building itself is also beautiful and it it well run and easy to visit.

    • The New Church (Nieuwe Kerk), this Gothic-style church was built around 1400. Many changes have been made throughout the years, it was mostly destroyed in a fire & then reconstructed.

... was able to get a lot of inside knowledge into Dutch culture and history. I visited the initial headquarters of the East India Trading Company, stood on the widest bridge, and visited the narrowest house in Amsterdam. Katie and i went to the Amsterdam Dungeon, which is an interactive theater production that teaches you all about the past 500 years of Amsterdam history. We had a blast taking pictures in Madame Toussand's wax museum, and meeting many new friends in out ...
