Historical Traveler Reviews Nh Lucerne

Breakfast is the best

from Xaf

I've been at some NH-Hotels and in my oppinion this is the worst. In fact, is one of the worst hotels I've been.

When I've arrived at 2pm the room was not ready (I discovered when entered in the room), so I have to back to reception to complain. They were really kind and prepared the room inmediatly. Fortunately we had another room to leave our luggage.

Once the room was ready I noticed it smelled a lot of smoke. It seems they don't have "non-smoking" rooms. Rooms are small (like bathrooms and beds) and don't have air conditioning, and tend to be quite hot. The room was next tho the lift, so I had to suffer the lift doors. Also, talking about noise, was you can listen the upper room floor. Is made by wood and is really noisy.

The hotel is placed quite good as you can go everywhere walking. Maybe is not the best hotel if your arrive by train but is ok.

The breakfast is really ok, above the average.

If the room had an air-conditioning and a minibar

The hotel is really nice, including the staff, location, etc. It is modern and the size of the room and bathroom is fine. The breakfast was one of the best we've had in Europe, with fresh fruit, yoghurt, many kinds of cheese and bread, even better than breakfasts in some 4-star hotels we've stayed.

The only things that we missed was an air-conditioning (it can be very hot in Switzerland; when we went it was more than 30 °C, and a minibar, but as a whole, we loved the hotel.

Again nh

We have just returned from 2 week at the Europe. We had only 1night at the nh hotel. But my son ,11yrs old, said that he wanted to go back to this hotel. The outlook was not magnificent, but they served a good breakffast, and spacous room. More than that staffs are very kind to us. We paid $148 per room per night.

Overall I would say this is probably the best hotel for the price we have ever stayed in 2-week-europe-tour.

Higly recommended

from anonymous

This is an excellent hotel, highly recommended, the customer service is excellent. The TV programs are excellent. I don't remember there is airconditioning though (we didn't need it when we went). The breakfast is delicious (just to name a few things, they have sausages and variety of gourmet cheeses). The only downside is the sound proofing, you can actually hear the floor creek when the ppl move upstairs.

Highly recommend the NH Luzern

from anonymous

My niece and I stayed at five different three star hotels on a trip to Italy and Switzerland and rated the NH Luzern at the top of the list. The room was great - modern and comfortable - with an electronic safe for our valuables. It was kept spotlessly clean by the efficient housekeeping staff. We found the reception staff to be very knowledgeable, highly responsive when we had a minor problem with our shower, and extremely helpful with information on touring and excursions. The included breakfast was the best of any of the hotels that we stayed in. The rate was also excellent - 155 CHF per night (approx. $123 US).

Go for it!

Excellent modern 3 star hotel. Great location within walking distance from everywhere: the old town (5 min), the lake (5 min), and even the train station (10 to 15 min across the bridge). Friendly service. I stayed two nights in mid June. The room was spacious, simply but tastefully decorated. Comfortable bed. Satellite television with channels in German, French, Italian, English and Spanish. Safety box in the room. No mini bar or air con though! However, as the hotel is located on a quiet side street with virtually no traffic, I had no problem to sleep with the window open. Small bathroom, but well appointed. The whole place was spotless. Good buffet breakfast: home made bread, croissants, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, hot and cold meats, eggs... I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would no doubt stay again in the future.

Fantastic Service

from Boston007

We just enjoyed a very good stay at the NH Luzern hotel. The reception staff, Claudia, was very helpful and gave us an extremely comfortable room. the hotel is very centrally located and has a sumptuous breakfast buffet. I highly recomend this hotel.

Nice but be careful!

from anonymous

NH is centrally located and was easy to find coming from the train station.

BUT be careful about being shown to a room in a building not part of the building in which the reception in located. I was shown to a room in a different building which wasn't as nice as the rooms in the "main hotel" (the rooms shown on their website). These "other" rooms are in a building (which was previously a hotel - but look like they have not been used for some time) which the hotel has bought over but has not yet furnished to the same fit out as in the main hotel building. Make sure you request a room in the main hotel building.

The breakfast at NH is of a very good standard. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Summary: for what I paid and if you don't get one of those dodgy rooms, I thought it was good value for money.

Good place to stay

from anonymous

the train station had a deal for 93euro a night here. T Its 5 mins from old town - close to the lion sculpture. Overall spotless and comfortable. Nice bar, above average breakfast and good but a bit expensive food. The first night we got a triple room (VERY NICE), we stayed a couple extra nights.

Central, but hot in Summer

from anonymous

- Nicely located, just next to Old Town of Lucerne. As they are reconstructing the whole building to have the largest hotel in Lucerne in 2004 it's noisy during daytime.

- Rooms are convenient, not spacious but modern bathroom, No A/C

- Small breakfast buffet but sufficient

- Friendly and helpful staff

Again the weather was awful. I'm sure you’re getting tired of hearing that, but at least you didn’t have to live with it. Because of the cold we had a late start and wandered over to the tourist information centre where we booked a morning walking tour.

On the tour we saw the oldest building in the old town, a …
