Breakfast in Austria this morning. Spent the morning looking around Innsbruck - a lovely town. We saw the Hofburg - the imperial palace and some famous golden-roofed balcony. All the facts are starting to blur together. It was a nice balcony, though... Time for shopping at Swarovski! It was lots of fun (except for the bus loads of pushy and rude …

... ringing, when we saw about 8 men, in groups of 2 holding huge cow bells ringing them simultaneously. It is a Christmas tradition that on the first of December men ring bells throughout the town to ward of evil spirits. We took photos and videos and were then on our way. We looked through the beautiful city seeing many Christmas trees and many Asian tourists, large hords of them! We found an amazing sourvioner shop, two levels and a corner of amazing ...

... we all thought. The stone was huge, and it was behind a little pond. With the changing colors of the trees, pond, and the sun; it looked amazing! Then we headed back to town and walked along the lake. I found a little ice cream shop along the boardwalk, and got 2 mammoth scoops of Cherry Bonita and Stracciatella. It was so delicious, I was in ice cream heaven! Since I paid in Euros, they gave me Swiss Francs in return which was awesome because I'm collecting coins from ...

Today we slept in a bit, had our free breakfast at the hotel (most hotels in Europe offer it) and took the city bus to Hergiswil to the glass factory. One of the original glass manufacturers in Europe, we watched them make things out of glass the old fashioned way. Mom tried glass blowing herself and she's carrying around the glass globe she made. She wants to get ...

Day 4: Switzerland to Italy - Venice

A travel blog entry by abroszczak

... Gondola rides in the canals of Venice. Wow. This was the best part of Venice. Charles and I were lucky and shared a gondola with two girls from Toronto. One of the girls, Alisha, was celebrating her 23rd birthday so along with the four of us we had the musicians, an accordion player and a singer. This was absolutely a once in a life time experience. Relaxing in a beautiful gondola as we were serenaded in Italian while drinking a complementary glass ...

    Breakfast is the best

    from

I've been at some NH-Hotels and in my oppinion this is the worst. In fact, is one of the worst hotels I've been.

If the room had an air-conditioning and a minibar

    from

The hotel is really nice, including the staff, location, etc. It is modern and the size of the room and bathroom is fine. The breakfast was one of the best we've had in Europe, with fresh fruit, yoghurt, many kinds of cheese and bread, even better than breakfasts in some 4-star hotels we've stayed.

The only things that we missed was an air-conditioning (it can be very hot in Switzerland; when we went it was more than 30 C, and a minibar, but as a whole, we loved the hotel.

    Again nh

    from

We have just returned from 2 week at the Europe. We had only 1night at the nh hotel. But my son ,11yrs old, said that he wanted to go back to this hotel. The outlook was not magnificent, but they served a good breakffast, and spacous room. More than that staffs are very kind to us. We paid $148 per room per night.

Overall I would say this is probably the best hotel for the price we have ever stayed in 2-week-europe-tour.

    Higly recommended

    from

This is an excellent hotel, highly recommended, the customer service is excellent. The TV programs are excellent. I don't remember there is airconditioning though (we didn't need it when we went). The breakfast is delicious (just to name a few things, they have sausages and variety of gourmet cheeses). The only downside is the sound proofing, you can actually hear the floor creek when the ppl move upstairs.

    Highly recommend the NH Luzern

    from

My niece and I stayed at five different three star hotels on a trip to Italy and Switzerland and rated the NH Luzern at the top of the list. The room was great - modern and comfortable - with an electronic safe for our valuables. It was kept spotlessly clean by the efficient housekeeping staff. We found the reception staff to be very knowledgeable, highly responsive when we had a minor problem with our shower, and extremely helpful with information on touring and excursions. The included breakfast was the best of any of the hotels that we stayed in. The rate was also excellent - 155 CHF per night (approx. $123 US).

    Go for it!

    from

Excellent modern 3 star hotel. Great location within walking distance from everywhere: the old town (5 min), the lake (5 min), and even the train station (10 to 15 min across the bridge). Friendly service. I stayed two nights in mid June. The room was spacious, simply but tastefully decorated. Comfortable bed. Satellite television with channels in German, French, Italian, English and Spanish. Safety box in the room. No mini bar or air con though! However, as the hotel is located on a quiet side street with virtually no traffic, I had no problem to sleep with the window open. Small bathroom, but well appointed. The whole place was spotless. Good buffet breakfast: home made bread, croissants, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, hot and cold meats, eggs... I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would no doubt stay again in the future.

    Fantastic Service

    from

We just enjoyed a very good stay at the NH Luzern hotel. The reception staff, Claudia, was very helpful and gave us an extremely comfortable room. the hotel is very centrally located and has a sumptuous breakfast buffet. I highly recomend this hotel.

    Nice but be careful!

    from

NH is centrally located and was easy to find coming from the train station.

    Good place to stay

    from

the train station had a deal for 93euro a night here. T Its 5 mins from old town - close to the lion sculpture. Overall spotless and comfortable. Nice bar, above average breakfast and good but a bit expensive food. The first night we got a triple room (VERY NICE), we stayed a couple extra nights.

    Central, but hot in Summer

    from

    - Nicely located, just next to Old Town of Lucerne. As they are reconstructing the whole building to have the largest hotel in Lucerne in 2004 it's noisy during daytime.

    - Rooms are convenient, not spacious but modern bathroom, No A/C

    - Small breakfast buffet but sufficient

    - Friendly and helpful staff
