... common room playing cards and getting to know some of the other guests. We met a girl in Germany who had some time off and wanted to travel, an Australian who was on month 8 out of 24 of traveling around the world (he's already hit every continent but Antarctica) and a couple from Holland who have spent 2 months driving around Southern Africa.

... it, not relatable to any other city I've ever been too. Yes it is a little ratty and dirty in places, and a few bricks randomly loose and highly trip-able, but Johannesburg is quite nice, with lots of trees.

We got to fully appreciate this when we went up the Carlton Centre, the tallest building in Africa at 222.51 m, pretty measly in comparison to the rest of the world really. But it was great to see all the people going about their daily ...

... the clothes stay dry and you don't wear them for at least 3 days because by then the eggs have dried up. After Dave’s second daughter was born in Malawi, he said they had to iron her cloth nappies to protect her from getting bitten. He said you also have to iron the cot sheets as it's pretty nasty when the eggs hatch and the larvae bore into a baby's skin.
