A diner is a unique American phenomenon which predates fast food outlets - in contrast to these, they encourage their patrons to come in and sit down and take some time to have a meal around tables or in booths.
We certainly enjoyed our lunch break with plenty of 'people watching' in this busy diner with such an unusual name!
One can only imagine the parties that took place within its amazing rooms!
Upon our return we enjoyed a "nautical" lunch in a great local pub before wandering through the picturesque shops, streets and docks of Newport, which have a real holiday feel about them!
