    Paid extra for the roaches

    Never again.

I can't even begin to discribe the bathroom to you but I'll try. The tub was actually falling apart. The panelling had falling off which exposed mold and dirt and yes, roaches. It was gross. I was afraid to touch the blankets on the bed, they should have been replaced years ago. They were unclean and very worn. The final insult to injury was how rude the manager was.

I would not recommend this place to my dog.

No towel but lots of ants

We chose this hotel based on the reviews. But. this hotel is nothing special. The rooms are dated and musty. The staff didn't cleaned the room in four days. Unfortunately, we had a big tub IN the room. It was full of sand. We had to beg for fresh towels and soap (we finally bought bars at the local WalMart) They would give us only one extra pillow. And, the room had a host of ants. This hotel is run by the same people trying to sell timeshare at the new Boardwalk. I have one suggestion: Rent a timeshare if you are staying close to a week. You will have more room, a complete kitchen and the rooms are newer. I am not sure I would buy a timeshare from the same company that manages the New Castle.

    An average rating

We stayed here August 2003. Selected the hotel after reading the other highly rated reviews, but was somewhat disappointed. The hotel is nothing special. Parking lot is cramped. Room is average size, bathroom was clean but dimly lit with missing floor tiles around jacuzzi. Tiny refrigerator. Avoid the "concierge"...she is there to sell timeshares.

Free use of bicycles a nice touch.

    Great Hotel

I visited Virginia Beach August 2003 and I was trying to find a name-brand hotel to stay at in Virginia Beach, but after reading several reviews I chose New Castle. The location was good, the room was clean, the staff was friendly and every room has an oceanfront view with a jacuzzi. The only problem I had was with the remote control and the maintenance staff was speedy when trying to resolve, and after two days they went to a store and bought a new one. The one downfall with this hotel is that there is no outdoor pool, only an indoor pool, and it had a very stong chlorine odor because it was cleaned it every night. For the money, compared to more prestigious hotels it was well worth it. I had a great time and found the hotel to be what I expected and I probably would return again.

    Very impressed

This is an excellent hotel that I have decided I will stay at every time I go to Virginia Beach. Usually I have been a little disappointed at where I have stayed. This was a beautiful room. The staff was great and always available. Great location to everything!

    A Good Experiance

Had a very pleasant experience third week of May 03. Room was very nice, clean, and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Indoor pool was under repair, but they offered usage of pool at one of their sister locations. maid service came very early one day, and not at all the next (you may need to call and let them know your room is ready for service). The most gracious experience came the second day of my scheduled four day stay. I had an unexpected death in my family and had to leave two days early. I didn't expect any type of refund since (like all hotels) 72 hour notice is required. As I packed my car, I was asked to come into the lobby where one of the staff informed me that they would be refunding my last nights stay -- kindness like that isn't found that often anymore. I would definitely go back to The New Castle Hotel.

    Troubled customer

I took a one night trip to VA Beach last year, kind of as a one night love get-a-way with my fiance. We booked the hotel ahead of time, and was told that they had a honeymoon suite and we reserved it. It was supposed to have the jacuzzi and all in the room, with champagne waiting. We got there and it was all a different story. The room was late getting ready, it was a regular room, no jacuzzi, no champagne, not romantic getaway. We tried to swim in the indoor pool there and the chlorine was so strong that it burned your skin, and you could barely breathe because of the smell. We are going back to VA Beach this weekend, but are steering clear of this hotel for our trip.

My husband and I stayed in the New Castle on our Honeymoon. We accually ended up staying an extra night because there was so much to do. Loved the veiw. It was a perfect honeymoon spot. We have already desided to return there on our one year aniversery.

    Goin' back for more!

We usually do not go to VA Beach for vacation since we live so close, we usually like to travelto other beaches. Due to my husbands workschedule it was more feasible to stay closer tohome incase he had meetings that he could go toand return to our vacation. (Sad but true.)We loved our stay! We had a wonderful view ofthe ocean, we had a jacuzzi in our room, freeuse of their bikes--which aren't cheap if you rentthem there! It was the perfect get a way andwe're going back for more this year!!

    Had a wonderful time!

Having seen the west coast last summer, we decided to try the east coast this year. We thought San Diego was absolutely beautiful until we went to Virginia Beach. We've already decided to go back to the New Castle next year :)

... First Flight took place at Kill a Devil Hills. How far travel has come since that famous first 12 second flight. Although it was very windy on top of the hill, the weather was at least fine.

We managed to keep ahead of the rain all day, finding some clear blue skies when we reached the lighthouse at Currituck Beach. Seven is the current lighthouse total - a number that will grow when we reach the coast of Maine at the end of our holiday.

... of how much I have missed the presence of water in my home city. Brisbane used to have a number of fountains but alas, no more. In both Dallas and Norfolk, it has been very hot. Shady glades with running water have an amazing capacity to soothe and restore and both of these cities have had these in abundance. I hope that one day, fountains will return to our Brisbane.

I am also certain that we have the best food in the world. Most food ...

... I am having trouble with the concept of 400 years of naval history. This is a city that is so proud of their navy and the men who are serving their country and those who already have. There is a big air show on this week-end but we have decided not to go. The crowds are said to be horrendous so we are going to visit lighthouses, walk the rest of the Cannonball Trail and then watch the sunset from our balcony. Cannot do everything so we are not even going to ...

1 shower, 4 people....share and play nicely with others. Is this hotel room getting smaller? Nope! It's just fine. Very comfortable. 1:00pm- we are at the Roanoke park area. About to watch a "worth-it" short film on the history. We saw an Indian settlement, toured the museum, boarded a replica of a European exploration ship and learned about the lost colony. 5:00pm- we just crossed the Chesapeake and are driving north through the Eastern shore of VA. Sunny and ...

... lights on Louis VAN Gaal were about as useful as a couple of ******* tealights pritt-sticked onto the bonnet. We were in the ****, basically. To add insult to injury we had no full beam so unless Tom wanted to tailgate every poor sod on the I95 we had to call it quits and shack up for the night. Discussing the options in an abandoned car park over a few coffees, we decided to play it safe and get to a Holiday Inn down the road. We’d earned it ...
