Hello From England!!!!

We made it to England! We took a train from Edinburgh, Scotland to Newcastle Upon Tyne and while it was a little difficult to figure out what we were doing at first we finally started getting used to it. Once we got to Newcastle we had a heck of a time getting out of the station. Our tickets told us we were going to be having a train change and we thought we were supposed to change trains. They have two train stations, the Metro Citycentre and the Metro. The station we were at was the right o...

Departure Day - Part 2: Out of Eden

... but eventually went to see Bruce Willis in 'Surrogates', a weird but quite cool sci-fi which is worth a look if you have no better offers.

Came out of the film around 11, considered going for a drink but decided that there would be plenty of time for that, and without paying through the nose either. Read for a bit and turned out the light. Found myself restless, not surprising really but a better nights sleep would have been handy; ho-hum.

Meeting the Postman & my family!

Woke up this morning in Shefield & guess what? it was raining again, just for a change!! After a leisurely breakfast, Stuart turned up & we set off on the short trip to Weston park Hospital in Sheffield for a quick photo & then on to Leeds. Here we met another one of Colin's friends, Dominic & Viv on a very impressive BMW GS1200 Adventure.

... sheets. Let's hope my 3 other room mates don't mind my snoring! At least I got there early and bagged the bottom bunk!

Up early to get some breakfast and to try to work out where to head to tomorrow. Nothing booked yet...let's see what happens. Left the LR tonight with a strange rattle, not sure what it is, sounds serious, lets hope I can work it out tomorrow and it doesn't cost too much :-(

3) Learn some more Hindi. Especially the phrase "Get your hands off my ass you dirty old man."

4) Swap the alcohol habit for a much more peaceful philosophical weed habit. Write some 'interesting' poems for my portfolio as a result.

5) Always carry toilet paper to avoid the 'Indian' method....

6) Try to look fit despite having a shiny bald heid. Result of a brothers bet. More on that next time.

From Coventry to Newcastle

... Dan and I went to the toilet at Starbucks, then headed to the tourist information Centre. We wanted to walk up the spire but the Church wasn't reopened until 1pm, so we lined up at got a Cod and chips at a Fish 'n Chip shop. The fish and chips were a bit oiley, the fish inside the batter was very nice, the chips a bit average. We watched a street performer get out of a straightjacket and chains whilst we ate. He was pretty entertaining ...

Crap.

So a monumental **** up. We got our tickets and they had the date as two days later. We get to Newcastle, and sort it out. We have to change the tickets, the first one is tomorrow at 6 in the afternoon to Bristol. We find a backpackers not far from the station. and walk around. We don't do much in Newcastle but catch up on sleep, walk about and do nothing. It snowed later on in the night. It was faint, but I headed out and checked it out. First time in England that I see snow.

Blackouts, geordies and a very smelly Reflex...

Ok I have already written this entry once but I have finally decided to write it again and this time I hopefully won't delete it. Now where was I... I was at home, playing around on Paul's mind boggling expensive computer when the power went out. I was so terrified that I'd blown the hard drive or a fuse or something that I actually went round and cleaned the house. Even considered cooking Paul dinner so i could butter him up before giving him the bad news. Thankfully he came home ...

Out of Scotland Already?!

... colors in the sunset. It was just another of those little moments that make a trip special.

We headed back toward the B&B after the impromptu concert ended. Along the way, we stopped in the Rajpooth Tandoori Restaurant which is across the street from the B&B. The host of the place put us in a parlor and put menus in front of us. He kept coming back to check on us, but would never take us to the tables. Finally, we asked when we would be seated. He said he ...
