We stopped in Gainesville to grab some lunch at place called The Top. Sadly when we did not realize that it would be closed until 5pm. We decided to just pop in at the Harvest Cafe that was on the corner. The food was super simple but perfect! We all ordered avocado sandwiches and then hit the road once again. We started out today a little south of Gainesville, FL. First stop of the day is Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park...I HAVE to tell you...as someone who has spent a bunch of years in grasslands...my definition and Floridas of prairie are very different. Paynes Prairie Preserve is basically one GIANT shrubland with tall trees, shrubs, brambles, thickets and a river of emergent vegetation that ends is a HUGE marsh.
