... called 'teacher' every two seconds and having lots of questions directed my way from the little ones...and co-teachers too, haha! In that time while they were getting to me, i was getting to know the Korean culture...with its friendliness, good food, lovely culture, INSANE roads and wonderful spitting habit! All part of it i guess. Weekend allowed me just chill out, went and got lost downtown which was fun but atleast ive mastered the art of the subway ...
Daegu, Korea Rep. jgrayjoseph... boys said "Rachel sends people to the office if they mess with the air conditioner controller," so I said ok and they told me there was special paper and I found it and wrote out for this kid to go. He wasn't moving. I asked him why he wasn't going. He said he was going after class. I asked, "Why would that help? How would I know you were going?" Then a whole debate went on and he tried to blame his friends too, saying they told him to and re-dialog of it all went ...
Daegu, Korea Rep. brianna29... a driver came a few hours after I got to Daegu train station. He took me to the school and I met the Branch manager and she seemed nice. The school is nice. I will have my own classroom that no one else will be using so I should be able to personalize it and the desk that is inside it. The teacher that I am taking over is here for one week which is awesome for me because I can observe her classes and maybe other teacher's classes and relax this week and start teaching next ...
Daegu, Korea Rep. brianna29... I got to get faded. And three, I got to eat American food. Steak, Pork, Chicken, Cheeseburgers, Sausages, and Breakfast. Breakfast??? you may ask. What I have noticed in Korea is that you eat the same thing for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. When I was young I use to be teased by my buddies about steak and rice for breakfast. Now I know it is no big thing over ...
Daegu, Korea Rep. cwienke... 1.60 to $2.25) back into town as we were meeting one of Beth's co-teachers and her family for dinner. Dinner and conversation was good, but I get overwhelmed by all the different dishes that are brought out for a typical Korean meal, can't begin to know what they are (sometimes don't want to) or just the too many concept on the taste buds. All in all, it was good a good day and we enjoyed our walk home as the night was cool, but fresh.
Daegu, Korea Rep. evans8735Before I begin this anti-education rant...I just saw a Buddhist monk running to catch a bus. I thought it was antithetical to the whole being one with the environment zen thing... Anyway... I went upstairs to my class during a planning period and I saw one of the other teachers yelling at one of the 9/10 year olds whom I teach at 3 o'clock... Now I see this a lot and I guess I've sorta ...
Geochang-eup, Korea Rep. j0rgeherter... into the third grade teachers office. Trouble was sat right in front of me and screamed when I walked in! It was so great to see her. I was then peraded around the school, trying to find all the other teachers! I was taken to see the principal, who slapped me on the back and said 'oh Emma we miss you, come back', the new native teacher was stood next to me at the time, not at all awkward! He then asked after my parents and said that he missed them! Bless ...
Daegu, Korea Rep. norsu... lingering memory of the satellite photo of Daegu I had examined that morning, I decided to find the holy grill, a hangout for expatriates. Needless to say, I walked halfway round the city and ended up in a bit of a slum where there was barely another person, let alone a hangout for expats. Needless to say, it started to pour. So, I decided to head back. Needless to say, I walked too far back in the wrong direction and missed my ...
Deagu, Korea Rep. keiran.macrae... worse than liar?!" So he looked up that word too. I can't even remember what he came out with. Also, my co teacher continually says she is perplexed. She says things like "I had a bad dream last night and now I am perplexed" or "I am perplexed. Why did the student do that?" I'm don't have the heart to tell her she can't say it anymore because it sounds ridiculous!!! I think I might start using it. In Korea teachers teach with microphones. I don't know if I've mentioned this ...
