    ... whilst I walked to the end of the street to see if I could see anything, eventually I found a tiny corner cafe so headed back to collect the bags. It turned out the cafe was part of a pretty posh hotel but it had food, drinks and wifi so we could let home know we were staying.     We flew into Hat Yai from Bangkok, a change from our previous visit here, where we were coming overland from Songkla and heading onto Penang (in Malaysia).

    The flight wasn't as straightforward as we had anticipated, although it didn't help that I'd forgotten to pack my penknife in my hold luggage, and had had this confiscated for collection when I landed.

    ... s bright blue one is from the Lanta animal welfare centre where we walked homeless and poorly dogs. Max's is from the place we stayed called the hut. It's funny how much a new t-shirt can brighten up your day! (See photo) Our train is at 4 this evening, and we are currently lounging around the room watching tv, but we should probably get packing!     ... t have been better. I absolutely loved it: a big wide non-busy road goes all straight north for dozens of kilometers until a city called Nakhon Si Thammarat and continues beyond following the coast line. Good asphalt, good eventual shadow thanks to the palm trees around and along of it. Good air, you can smell the sea that is just about 5 to 10 kilometers from the road.
