Christmas was really nice. I knew when I left home in March that I would be away for Christmas, at the time I thought I'd be in the blazing heat and sunshine of southern Thailand. We put up a Christmas tree and decorations on the weekend before Christmas, and put presents under the tree. The day before Christmas Eve we went to a Christmas party being held in a bar, run by a small, private English school. It came complete with a ...

... got back into our cars and drove to Baoying, which I later learnt was the hometown on 1 of the businessmen.

We arrived at a slightly worn out looking hotel. There we were all greeted by a man with wide set eyes and whose age I couldn't place. There was a wedding going on in the hotel, and we all went to a room upstairs and had lunch. It was only when we got ...

... leave at 8.30am. In time for what? Why are we leaving anywhere? I didn't know, and didn't ask. On Weds morning I woke up at 5.30am, and Ms Liang and I left the house before 6.30am. The ticket counters at Jiashan South station were yet to open. The earliest train to Hangzhou was the 7.23, which was the train I got. Turns out it was a slow train so I didn't get to HZ until 8.15, and then I ran to get the metro, and when I got to Wulin Sq I ran to meet the others at the meeting point. ...
