    Hangzhou International Day

... to be! Jora, our Chinese teacher and Culture Class co-ordinator, sent an email some days beforehand, outlining the schedule. It was to be an all-day affair, and I would have my Chinese class the next day (all in Hangzhou), so Ms Liang said I could stay in her Hangzhou flat overnight, which I had been to a few weeks ago during the National Holiday.

There seemed to be a slight sense of urgency (via WeChat - it's like WhatsApp) as to getting at Wulin Sq metro station in ...

    ... hahahaha

On Saturday the 3 of us went for a buffet lunch at the wedding hotel (in Jiashan). It was delicious! And they had dessert! Actual western desserts! I ate tonnes of the stuff. Afterwards we went to the park, where there were some rides. Serena and I went on the pirate ship ride. I felt well sick afterwards -- all that dessert! The park was really nice, I'm putting up pics, not enough time for me to type all about it like I would like ...

... messing around. So on my left were happy people and on my right were crying people. I guess it happens in weddings the world over! After that, we were then hanging around in reception for the next 3 hours or so. We were probably there longer than the wedding ceremony itself lasted. ... which quickly filled with smoke. I can't remember if I have emphasised how you can smoke ANYWHERE in China and plenty of the men do. You can also spit anywhere in China (even inside restaurants and hotels, on the floor or in bins) and plenty of men and women do so.

During this meal, there was a lot of standing up and "cheers!" - called "gambing" in China. I don't know if the phrase "there was a lot of gambing-ing" is gramatically ...

    Xitang

Crumbs... I just realised I forgot to write about Xitang, we went there.... 2 weeks ago?... Well, instead of just lumping the pics from there onto another entry, here's a brief piece on it with some pics.

An old walled village, which has been restored and has lot of tourist shops there, and is all set over a river with lots of small bridges going over. It's a maze... so easy to enter 1 way and never find your way out. We had a great time there :)
