Only having a few days left in Cixi before we head off to Shanghai for a month, we have decided to give up our flat and relocate to the big city for a few weeks. This, unbeknownst to us, has opened another can of worms... For the past few nights I have been burning the proverbial candle at both ends. They are tied tightly into 2cm balls but once emerged in hot water the ball unfolds and different flowers pop out. I don’t know how they’re made but it looks like intricate ...

... The acoustics were much better than the concert in Yuhuan, but it was difficult to play because it was freezing cold. Our soloist was not able to play one of the pieces because his fingers were too cold. Nevertheless, our audience was great. They loved to clap along with our songs and they cheered especially loud when our American singers sang in Chinese along with our Chinese singers. It was a really good concert.
