... be doing so but I've decided not to other than to state that I'm simply not impressed by this type of upscale product. I just don't see the value. I was more impressed with the Apple store that was in the same district. I guess that I'm simply a provincial 'otaku' (geek)...
For our two days here in Osaka it seems like all that we've done is
eat, walk around, and sleep. In a city like Osaka with such great food,
life doesn't get much better.
Seconds please. I had to go back to Osaka, one way or another (my return flight was leaving from here). Ate just as well if not better than the first go around. Went to the Takoyaki museum at Universal city walk but it was more tako vendors than museum, not such a bad thing. Had simply amazing Kobe ...
Osaka, Ōsaka, Japan hungyhungyhippoMeaning to ruin oneself by extravagance in food. Heard another translation - "Eat, eat until you fall down." Why Osaka is my entry point to Japan. It also translates to eating as much Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki as possible. BTW Takoyaki - Octopus balls. Okonomiyaki - Pancake-ish dealies. Oh Osaka.
Osaka, Ōsaka, Japan hungyhungyhippo... were lovely. Matthew said I didn't miss anything even though the ceremony went on for another hour after we left. I am inclined to believe him based on the first 30 minutes. We drove down the streets with the cherry blossoms which ARE in bloom. We're going to do that again today - taking the bullet train to Nara and Kyoto to ...
Kobe, Kinki, Japan aniseh... to adjust to the time change and see a bit of the city. Kobe suffered a major earthquake in 1994, but the only sign of it today is the Earthquake Memorial that we visited along the shore. We took a bus tour around the city, which was interesting even though we couldn't understand the guide! Kyoto The day after my conference ended, we took the fast train to Kyoto. We got there early and spent the day walking around the city, which is a little bigger and more historic ...
Kobe, Kinki, Japan humanetraveler... from point A to point B. Our first feat was navigating through the Japan subway system, we stood in front of the pay station for like 10 minutes, clueless on how to buy a ticket or which subway to get on, until someone felt sorry for us and lead us in the right way. We then tried the bus next, we successfully boarded the right bus but did not know what stop to get off in since it was all in ...
Kobe, Japan aarturi... and now Tech. I imagine this will change quite a bit about how schools run and security procedures that are in place. Now parents can worry even more when they drop their child off for that memorable first day of school. I worry a little bit everyday when the first grade Japanese students begin their long walks home through the small streets in town. Then I remind myself that Japan is one of the safest countries in the world, with a very low crime rate. However ...
Nachikatsuura, Kozagawa, Hongu, Kobe, Japan kateinjapan... family (the Kawashima's - Akemi, Sayumi, Nanami & Rikako) who treated me like royalty (a girl could get used to that). I had 3 days to see Kyoto and 1 day for Nara so I was pretty busy. On the first day Akemi and Nanami accompanied me into Kyoto. We went to the temple with hundreds and hundreds of red gates (I forget the name) and then to Sanjusangen-do. 'San ju san' is Japanese for 33 and so this temple is named because of the 34 columns inside the temple and ...
Himeji/Kyoto, Japan tokyo_cate... same reply. I'm thinking that this can't be right, so after some prodding it comes out that he says ass for ground and **** is supposed to be clap!! LOL I had to tell him why I thought it was so funny and show him the proper way to spell clap!! One note to end on, my roommate Craig has been snoring so loud the last few nights that he has actually woken me up! One night, I wake up and it's just horrible, I'm banging on the Japanese screen door and yelling his name...I ...
