... br>
Roman influence appears deeper into the valley, a half-moon theatre hewn from another rock face, a collonaded street down into the middle of the town, past grand temples.

Almost alien in feel, yet as real as the rock that scratches the elbow in passing – the glory days are displayed in well-preserved magnificence.

It is a beautiful setting, in the most classic sense of the over-used adjective, immortalised in the poem, Petra (John Burgon ) as “a rose ...

Dahab, Red Sea and Sinai, Egypt giselleandcody... was pretty amazing to have the place to our selves. We took tons of group photos and photos of the mountain range, and I got to make my video imitating Mel Brooks in History of the World Part 1. The view, well, the view is astounding. Since it is always clear you can see for miles and miles, with tons of other mountains in every direction. The sunset was pretty spectacular. It goes down really early since it is behind the mountain, which provides ...
Saint Catherine, Red Sea and Sinai, Egypt jeremystravels... course in Dahab is that usually the confined water dives are done in swimming pools,. but we got to do ours in the Red Sea.

Our instructor was Mohammed, a Jordanian man who had been living in Dahab for 5 years. Someone had a secret crush on Mohammed, we won't tell you who. The second day Mohammed sold us out, and we had Awie, a South African, as our teacher. Mohammed had been working at various scuba diving places around Dahab. He met a British girl named Vicky who was on a ...
Dahab, Red Sea and Sinai, Egypt kickthrough... guys naturally thought it would be for one of us. But our guide quickly reprimanded us and demanded that the "fattest girl" ride this one. Now, none of the girls were fat and of course none of them would want to admit that they think they are the fattest. So all of us stood in awkward confusion, not sure how to proceed. Sensing our hesitation, the guide chose one of the girls and ordered her to mount up, but she stood adamantly still in defiance. Finally, another girl ...
Dahab, Red Sea and Sinai, Egypt jes242... our names on a sign. I casually tried to swing under the metal barrier to his side when it gave way leaving me on my bum in front of a crowd of people! With Cesca in hysterics he picked me and our luggage up and we drove off. The road wound its way through the mountainous Sinai region, we were glued to the windows watching the Bedouin on camels go by and admiring the rock formations tower out of the desert floor. At Dahab he showed us into our accommodation which unexpectedly turned ...
Dahab, Red Sea and Sinai, Egypt chris.cescaAfter I got back I had some lunch and rested. Had to switch rooms and my laundry still hadn't been done. How difficult can it be?

Didn't do much for the rest of the afternoon, sunbathed and read my book and wrote in my diary. Nice way to end my last full day in Egypt. Had a ball here but I am looking forward to traveling again and moving away from here which is a bit too European feeling. Looking forward to traveling and coping with the ...
Dahab, Red Sea and Sinai, Egypt gazhams... for the construction of roads give an estimate of the time needed to cover them. It takes a long time to erase tracks, or do the roads here wear away quicker than we think. Anyhow, there are many blemishes on the "pristine" desert, caused by men. We, ourselves have left tracks near Karima, when we were stuck, but we did not leave anything but tracks and took nothing but photographs. And for the remainder of the journey we will try to continue to do that. A kind of New Year resolution.
Dahab, Red Sea and Sinai, Egypt robertandtanja... out by the sea, smoking sheesha pipes, lazing around on cushions on the floor, listening to the zen-like Cafe Del Mar / Buddha Bar chillout type beats and tunes, reading, lounging and chatting to friendly staff and waiters who crew the restaurants. Pirates are abundant in these parts. The chillout space is so close to the sea it feels like you are sitting in the water. The organically decorated restaurant has a relaxed vibe like a chai tent with tables close to the ...
Dahab, Red Sea and Sinai, Egypt inoursuitcase... toward our hotel. Walking past some other hotel’s deserted swimming pool on the way was far too tempting, and so we stripped down to our dacks and jumped in. Perhaps my morning’s choice of yellow Reg Grundys was not the most enlightened decision – I’ll concede that may have offended some in St Katherine’s Monastery. After about ten minutes a couple of bored hotel security guards came by and cheerfully ...
