... the Orthodox priest called for us and gave us a blessing with myrrh. Apart from the main monastery building, was a small chapel in which an Orthodox priest was selling indulgences (you can make business our of everything). In fact, the entrance hall to the chapel was a small marketplace of gifts, souvenirs and religious icons. Was there something in the bible about Jesus throwing the shopkeepers out of the church...?

... depressing, towns here and there, quite run down, and the horse and cart is still a common sight. Highways not too bad and we arrived just after sunset into our hotel, pretty nice, so i hit the mini-bar and sat back. Kicked off early..i.e 9am for our next destination of Budapest, one i've been eagerly awaiting on this trip. Drive was pretty normal...and nice not to see the death defying overtaking attemps that became the norm watching drivers in Romania and Bulgaria.

... place. Several doors led to a steam room and sauna then massage room. I couldn't handle the steam room as it was so hot i could hardly breathe and it felt like it was scalding my legs! The sauna was intensely hot also but a bit more bearable. Of course i couldn't get any pictures and my descriptions don't do it justice but it was a great place to visit and i felt better for it.

... get their eyes on. After being swarmed as soon as we left the station, we thought it was safer (especially for Sparkes ... details later), if we stayed inside. So we set up camp and awaited our 4am connection to Brasov. After a few gangs walking past, a guy who'd got beaten up and a dozen or so stray dogs passing by, our train arrived.
