After 4 days in the bustling metropolis of tokyo, we headed out to the tranquil Japanese alps. We stayed in a traditional Japanese hotel called a ryokan, complete with many sets of slippers and shoes for different occasions. ... standing next to me and they were curious about me not wearing shoes. That started up a nice conversation about where i was from and what they were doing here. One of the guys introduced himself and i don't know his japanese name anymore but he said it meant 'small mountain' in english. After a while our buses came and we said goodbye.
