... they were all there. She kept saying she couldn't believe she was with us! I knew how she felt because it was pretty surreal! I hadn't realised how much I missed them until that moment! She pulled me aside and gave me a massive hug and told me "that is from your mum."

... in the bar area until things started to quieten down in the restaurant. I enjoyed one of their excellent panang curries and then joined Ken at Chaba's Bar for a chat on a wide range of topics from the Thai Royal family to the architecture of Liverpool, the sinking of the Bismarck and Dennis Skinner.

It was the end of another "working" week. In just one week's time I should be aboard a plane heading home. How quickly the winter had passed!

... ago had been a vegetarian, found the gristly chicken feet a little hard to stomach. I wandered around for a while after lunch to get some fresh air and watched the children playing marbles, football and hand ball on the margins of the jungle. We taught three different subjects after lunch and in one of them “Skilled jobs” tried the miming game again. It went down a storm this time with the two teams becoming extremely competitive.

... than two weeks to go to Christmas the restaurants and hotels have started to put up some trees and lights but there are still many fewer visitors here than you would have expected. The restaurant at Phu Khao Lak, usually so popular and full to capacity was barely half full when I ate there during the week and when I arrived at the Red Chilli Restaurant for my customary Friday night hot-pan fish curry I was their only customer.
