... to take us the rest of the way east. Even though the area was beautiful and tropical, it didn't change the fact that we were tired and had to wait almost an hour at this tiny coffee shop. Finally, another ****** little van arrives and we are now headed to the eastern port town of Surat Thani to catch the 130pm ferry. However, we had to stop several times to pick up locals waiting on the side of the road, which isn't a bad thing if ...

Ayesha quickly thumbed through the book and found the name of a hotel. We set off in the taxi truck and hoped he was taking us where we asked! We were being picked up between 6-6.30am (wish they would just give you a time!) and so we had to be waiting outside where it was still pretty much dark, and raining of course. The pick up didn't arrive till 6.35am and then we set off in the minibus. We drove for about 45 mins - 1 hour to the other side of the island, where we were transferred into a big bus. After sitting around for a bit whilst the driver had ...

Next day we were moving on to Koh Sumai which involved another transfer from our hotel to the pier with a pit stop at the office to "Check-in". This route is such a popular one though that we had ended up being on a double decker coach bus with a leaky exit door in the roof that I was lucky to discover when it started to pour rain for an hour during our transit from Krabi to the ferry pier in Surat Thani. The leak was so bad I had to abandon my seat and sit on ...
