Jiu Zhai Gou Scenic Area Jiuzhaigou, Sichuan, China, 623402, 0837-7734777-
... It was a good thing that we opted for the 2-hour ride instead of a 2-day trek in Songpan.
It was a long wait for transport back to where we stayed as there were not many vehicles on this part of the road. We had a long chat about Zhou Ma's background and Tibetan's way of life. Half an hour later, we were in a private cab (private car that was operating as cab with a license) to the long-distance bus station, where ...
... ll never forget - Steve proposed to Celeste at the waterfall and she accepted. What a romantic scenario.
Some facts on the area:-
It is located at the foot of the northern slope of Peak Gaerna in the southern section of the Minshan Mountains on southeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The Y-shaped valley is hidden in green mountains in Jiuzhaigou County in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture ...
We have just spent two days in the Scenic Area of Jiuzhaigou, in northwest Siuchuan. We can now pronounce it properly (we think!) after having been referring to it as Jujihuji for the past three weeks! The weather is unexpectedly cold and rainy here. This has meant lots of mist and some reduced visability in the valleys ...

Jiuzhaigou, Sichuan, China blummo... our doubts. Didn't the color of water depend mostly upon the reflection of the skies, and thus, good skies necessary in order to bring out the beauty of these 118 lakes? As it would turn out, Jiuzhaigou was that beautiful. The unnaturally blue and green shades seemed to come through no matter what the condition of the skies. Hard to explain... it's a place everyone should try to see before they die. Anyways, so Jesse and I basically pussied out, and decided to ...
Jiuzhaigou, Sichuan, China ana.kRice terraces The plane dropped us in the large city of Guilin, and we hastily jumped on a bus to Longyi Titian, where the hills have been carved over centuries of what must have been backbreaking work into the most spectacular rice terracing. "Dragon's Spine Terraces" extends over 20 km through valleys, and symetrically up the steep slopes of the hills on either side. Ledge upon ledge have been sculpted with meticulous effort, giving the impression from a ...
Songpan, China twoinaballoonAs the weather is still unclear, our guide urge us to leave earlier, and one more time proved their ability to pack and prepare the horses in a record time On our way back, as they forecasted, it begin to rain and equipped with good rain jacket we found our way back to a monastery. Hopefully the rain stop and gave us the opportunity to visit the monastery. As I wanted to visit a little more, I went a little more deeply in the monastery and I did not hear the group ...
Songpan, China worldtaste... at 650 yuan (just over AUD $100) between 8 of us. They brought it back to our camp alive and killed & butchered it very efficiently, then roasted it on a spit. It tasted fantastic with lots of Sichuan spices all over it. For breakfast we ate some more meat (like ribs) that had been stewing overnight and were very very tender, as well as soup made from the inside bits (stomach etc). Yum yum yum. Anyway, this keyboard is awful and I'm sleepy. Bye!
Songpan, China beckandbillOk, so finally I arrived in Songpan, after a rather bum aching 7hr journey. But the fact is I was finally here, I'd been very excited about going horse trekking for quite a while now (well in fact ever since you told me to go Dave!). So I arrived in the rather chilly and high up town (about 3000m) on Sunday night and booked myself onto a three day horse trek starting the next day. We all met at 8:30am and were greeted by loads of horses and Tibetan guides. I was given a guide who ...
