Off with their heads - a day at Versailles

Huge day at Versailles. Up at 6am so we could beat all those pesky tourists (not us!). Got there in time, some confusion about tickets, but Catherine got us sorted - doing a guided tour gave direct entry with minimal security check, & no line - Yeah!! (Stories of 1.5 hours in queues).

... back to thee apartment. Making it only a few blocks we opted to take a cab back at some point which got us close to home and we hopped out and walked the remaining mile home. It was late so David and I decided to pass on going out to dinner with Ann Mare and Tom and just stay in for the night eating cheese and crackers/bread. We also turned in somewhat early, but definitely ...

Liam went to see the Louvre and the rest of Paris, book train to Mannheim, while Meg and I found a suitable place for dinner with Geoff and Merrilyn Quinn. Monday is not a good day for the better restaurants but most cafes are open. The Quinns, who are parents of Amanda McGrath across the road, have been cruising the Donau and Rhine. We had a nice Jurancon sec with salami on the street watching the evening traffic, then had ...
