Arriving back in Athens we had lots of re packing to do. We had left our large bags at the Sofitel Airport Hotel (50m from airport) & just taken our cabin bags out to Santorini & Mykonos. ... 20th and Jan 5th is the quietest time on the island as many locals travel away for a break before the mad summer rush. It was actually really nice to be here during this time as i never had to line up to do anything and i got a chance to talk with the locals. Greeks are lovely people but the culture is far from that in Australia, there are no laws about smoking inside in many places so everyone chained smoked in all hotels, cafes and restaurants.
