    ... sites were impressive but the tour tried to cover too much so they were all rushed. Organised sightseeing complete after two days.

    For the next two days we used the Subway. Initially it’s quite bewildering but once you find a map in Pinyan it becomes reasonably straightforward and very cheap. I noted a few things about the Subway that I thought were unusual/different:

    Well woke at 4:00, 5:30, 7:00 for bathroom stops. Got dressed at 8:30. James still asleep. Went out in corridor and spoke with Luis and guy from Hawaii. We talked travels and about our own countries. Talked for ages. Very nice guys. Went to restaurant for breakfast, but it was closed. Very ornate with lots of carvings.     ... series of basketball courts, and began forming into what can only be described as platoons. There was a crackly and very loud megaphone barking orders in Chinese. I looked at the other guys who had already taken the best course of action - photos!
