... if I didnt jump the falls, I would regret it later and want to come back. I researched this before I did it by the way... there are videos of people doing it online and I read up on it. So im not completely crazy. The hike up and around the waterfall to the top was a little crazy, involved a lot of swordgrass and a steep muddy slope that I chose to "ride" down feet first on my butt. Once that hill was finished the view ...
Yigo, Guam guamblog... the day. The wreck dive visited an old American tanker that was sunk to help build up a manmade cliff wall but sunk outside of its proper position. It is really well preserved however my buddy ran low on air fairly quickly so this dive was cut a little short. Our drift dive however was almost 40 minutes and took us down to 70 feet. I spent about 10 minutes playing with a huge 4 foot Moray Eel that we found in a hole ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... easy getting out, being there was a nice rip current, and then start your descent. The visibility was horrible from the waves kicking up bottom composition so we had to take a direct north compass heading for a little until the reef began to appear near 35-40 feet. Gab Gab 2 is a popular dive spot because of the crazy amount of fish that hang out near the reef. Sometimes Moray Eels will show up and we got some glimpses of HUGE tuna swimming around. These things are aggressive ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... them back because he "was tired and felt like taking a nap in the truck". I gave the keys to him and next thing we know, we hear the truck pull off.... He definitly got so annoyed that he left with the truck.... with all of our stuff... and left us hanging 45 miles south of base with random ppl and a lot of beer. You have to be kidding. I guess the only thing to do at this point, which we did, was to forget him and enjoy the rest of our night. At ...
Merizo, Guam guamblog... convince Dr T. Still all wound up, I want to go shopping. Tony does not. Guess who wins? He is determined to find a beach pub and he does! We have a beer, play cards (I win but it is veeeeeery close) and watch the sun set and the hundreds of Japanese on the beach. It is Saturday: they are here for the weekend. To say bye to Guam, we have our meal in the HRC. I should remember for next time: vegetables in the HRC means ...
Tamuning, Guam tonyandmarina... a lot of searching (their own personnel does not know where in the hotel we can get a drink) we step out and take a taxi home. It is 5$ for a short ride. The possibility of a cheap rental car looks better with the minute. I lay down for half an hour, drink a liter of water and that does the trick. Hubby sends me out: inquire about the shuttle buses (as said on the website), car rental and camera shop. No shuttle buses, indeed cheap cars: 40 ...
Tamuning, Guam tonyandmarina... and it's present with any Chamorran meal. The platter also came with tinala katne, what was described to me as a dried beef which made me think of jerky, but it was nothing like that. The beef was soft, supple, reddish pink on the inside, chargrilled on the outside, and while it wasn't fatty at all, it had that lip-smacking taste of beef gristle - the kind on a steak I love to suck for flavour but usually spit out because the idea of swallowing a chunk ...
Tamuning, Guam living2travel... we got away from the main town. There was beautiful coastline all along the way and a few waterfalls to see as well. As we got back to the main town I saw more America-like things, even a small scale of the Statue of Liberty. Just north of town was a lookout point called Two Lover's ...
Tamuning, Guam reds_adventure... 4:30 flight, we decided to stay up and pack. We arrived at the airport with time to spare. We were kind of uncomfortable waiting at the gate, because there were a LOT of people sneezing and sniffing, a few even had face masks on. We had seen several episodes about "Killer Flu: Avian Influenza" on Discovery Channel. (There were only 5 english-language channels on TV at our hotel, so we saw a LOT ...
Agana, Guam joelle... it is more like one huge town, with random outgrowths of restaurants and shopping, golf courses (I think 2 on the whole island) and hotels. The hotels are huge, like those in Hawaii or Florida, and nothing except the roads seemed too poor. The vegetation is green and lush, and the stars at night are spectacular, as they are from the ship. It is a very strange place, but a relaxing place. Once I got to the Hilton, I watched TV in my room and sat out on the balcony ...
