After 7 months of sunshine in Greece we have decided we need a little more so are heading south in search of more blue skies...first destination though is Singapore to check out the Hawker Markets and Zoo. Then onto Cairns where we pick up our 'Spaceship' which will be our home for 10 weeks as we head down the east coast to Melbourne. Assuming that we survive the snakes ...

FROM POROS PORT IN KEFALONIA, TO KYLINI (PELOPONYSOS)
The day is beautiful today, and there is sunshine.
It is windy however, and we decided to return from Kilini instead, just one and a half hours in the Ferry.
... entrance and the gilded carved wooden reredos, where the coffin of Gregory IV, the Patriarch of Constantinople, is kept.
I continue on my way to the villages of Kalligata and Kourkoumelata, where the neo-classical building of the Spiritual-Cultural Centre is.
The village of Metaxata is the place, where Lord Byron stayed for three months. A bit further I come across Keramies ...

If it wasn’t for Nico, the night at the tavern would have been awful. I always get stressed when I go to taverns and I am trapped there until the rest of the choir decides to leave. I am a very independent person and I cannot stand other people deciding on when we leave or do anything.
Unfortunately, I don’t know for what reason, nearly everyone in the room were smoking. The ...
... Angalaki, and Chiridoni are worth visiting.
A road to the East of Sami leads to the beautiful beach of Antisamos, with its bright white pebbles embraced by crystal clear blue-green waters.
Another road will take us to a hill top, where the Abbey of Agrilion, dedicated to Hyperagia Theotocos (God’s Holy Mother) is situated Cosmas the Aetolian used to teach there. The Abey ...

The barren islet of Vardiani, a small paradise for inveterate fishermen, is situated across the entrance of the large bay.
In Mandzavinata are situated the Churches of Agios Spyridonas, Panagia and of Santa Sophia, which ...

Leaving the Village of Atsoupades and going along a bypass road to the right and through a wonderful green landscape, we will encounter the villages of Valeriano, Chionata, Theramona and Mavrata, to end up at Katelios, a picturesque village with fish taverns and a ...
... there and whisper softly, a person in the top row of the seats farthest away from you can still hear you. We were shocked at how this worked- it was amazing. We tried it over and over because we just could not believe it. John would stand there and say various numbers as softly as he could while Rich stood at the top of the stands and held up his fingers to indicate what number he heard John say. It was unbelievable how clear the sound was. Equally odd was the sound echo heard by ...
Poros, Saronic Gulf Islands, Greece johnandrichIsn't that funny? I love sun, heat, swimming-pool, seaside, but I got bored in such conditions on Zakynthos. I thought as if I was in a cage. Touristic zone, small Porta Koukla, near Laganas - was too small for the city dweller like me. One restaurant and two shops when I could pay with credit cards. Is it EU at all? With such a huge touristic demand and therfore experience they didn't think much of the facilities.
Zakynthos, Ionian Islands, Greece platonow... Poros (of which more later) on the ferry, and suffered occasional wafts of hydrogen sulphide from the volcanic springs. The town is pleasant, quiet (except when the ferry comes in) has good shops, one very slow internet computer in a billiard hall, and is prettily situated. On the 4the day the wind got up so we managed to get a berth in the marina where we sat on top of the smelly spring till Sunday. Gina, keen to try out her armbands for ...
