Having escaped the Russians, we arrived at what we deem to be the most beautiful town in Asia. Hoi An is renowned for it's tailoring and arts as well as its eclectic mix of Japanese, Chinese and French architecture, so what better way to start than getting measured up! We all opted for some suits and jumpsuits...the tailor was an absolute babe and even took us to a shop to find the perfect fabric. Enjoying the retail therapy a little too much, we got carried away and had some shoes ...

This blog entry, as I'm sure you're glad to hear, is relatively short. Hue, actually pronounced hway, is the ancient capital of Vietnam and by bus is a mere three hours away from Hoi An. We pictured that Hue might be like Hoi An in many ways: it's a world heritage site, it's roughly the same size and it has an area called the citadel which is the walled ancient city. ... loved it as his driver was a bit of a speedy Gonzales and kept racing to the front! We headed back to bed fairly early as we had a 14 hour train journey ahead of us tomorrow...

Saturday we did not have much time in Hue as our train was at 2.30 and so some of us poodled around Hue and saw the gates of the Forbidden City. We soon had lunch and began our journey. Fortunately the train was so much nicer than the last one... and no cockroaches!! A group of us played cards ...
