Initially we came to Pittsburgh looking to see the Andy Warhol museum and visit the Carnegie Hall where the last lecture was given... And then we saw the sky and knew we had to find a spot for sunset. The top hit was Mount Washington. Getting there was pretty cool, the mountain side was filled with full house style houses. And freeways through mountains. Once you get to Mount Washington stay on Grandview Ave for the ...

      400 miles of autumn perfection

... miles through NC, TN, VA, WV, PA - 5 states of autumn splendor. And, it was a perfect 60 degree and sunny day. I wish I had more pics of the beautiful countryside, but it is difficult to capture from a 70 mph vehicle. All I can say is, we were not bored. I don't think I would have ever ended up in the SW corner of Pennsylvania had it not been for Frank Lloyd Wright. Tomorrow we tour ...

Tom was charged with getting us into Pittsburgh without going through a toll. Again he managed well. Came in on SR 22 which joined the I 376. We arrived in Pittsburgh down town about 4 pm. Wes turned off the main street and went looking for somewhere to pull off. By chance he was at the back entrance to a ...

... 4 lane divided highways with a speed limit of 70 mph, the drive is still quite pleasant. West Virginia calls itself the mountain state and 80% is forest which was quite evident as we drove along the highway. The colour in the trees was glorious and very hard to capture with a still photo.

Stopped in Westover at McDonalds for a coffee break and internet access. The car is telling us it needs an oil change and we needed to find ...

... The locals were at Cracker Barrel. So we joined the crowd. Arrived at Greensboro and attempted to find a hotel room. Everything was booked solid. Apparently, the Pittsburgh Steelers train at St. Vincent's College and their fans travel with them. Had dinner at an Italian restaurant. The owner/executive chef came out to greet us. How refreshing not to eat fried chicken and beef. Tomorrow is the homestretch the home. 350 +/- ...
