Innsbruck
... burger for dinner before heading back to the hotel. The hotel has a 'wellness centre' with an indoor pool, many saunas and relaxation areas. Ash was keen for a sauna but Lauren wasn't. Ash went up by himself and had a Finnish sauna experience. We had an early night ready to get up early to take a few more photos in the morning before getting the 10.36 train to Munich. Innsbruck was great! We would definitely like to come back again ...
Christmas Markets!
... to do most things during our short trip which was awesome, and we both really enjoyed ourselves. Would love to come back when the slopes are covered in snow and spend a week snowboarding the alps, now that would be awesome!
Our Austria adventure has come to an end for now...but never say never, this was the third time we have stopped in this beautiful country, and we were only going to visit Vienna! Time to move onto Switzerland...the land of expense (so I'm told) and check out ...

Friday 2 November 2012 Innsbruck Just in case you were waiting ........ the sauna provided little of note, not least because Steph and I didn't make it and Helen is too polite to recount the sights! This story has fallen a little flat, sadly. Firday, our last day in Austria. We had to return the car to the airport in Innsbruck. Our flight back home was to be from Munich since Easyjet don't fly out of Innsbruck ...
Forest thaw
... was overcast, as predicted by the weather forecast. It certainly wasn't cold and the final few kilometers along the lake to the south of Achensee turned into a gentle stroll. A welcome beer in a village cafe and ice cream for the weak-willed. Back to the hotel after a 7-8 miles' walk and a welcome afternoon snooze. Nordic Walking
... by and large. We did see new village features that we would probably have missed, including the main village ski lift and winter sports area. Snow machines have been used to consolidate the pistes, but the predicted thaw could make that futile. Back to the hotel for a welcome sandwich lunch, Saga-style nap or steamy binocular work in the sauna.
Aunty Helen's roast chicken for supper. She chose two pert-bottomed fowls for our delectation!
