Our week in Innsbruck has come to an end and boy have we had a fantastic time here. We arrived Monday afternoon and flew over the snow-capped mountains to land in the centre of Innsbruck. Looking up at the alps when you're standing on the tar mac will never get old. It's just amazing.

We are staying in Old Town and have the royal gardens right behind us. Everything is within walking distance, ...

... amazing. Innsbruck has such an amazing change over the last 2 days it was unreal. Over the course of the afternoon the cloud washed in and out over the mountain. We weren't sure of the temperature, but a lad at breakfast had told me it was -15 when we had gone snow boarding on one of the mountains the day before.

Our instructor arrived and we headed off to the very baby area of the slope. He taught us to pizza and French fry, how to turn (apparently) ...

2014 sees me once again celebrate Christmas in the cold and Christmas Eve as the big day. Unlike in Norway where the whole day was celebrated, it appeared that only the night time was a big occasion in Innsbruck with many of the shops still open till lunch time and people crusing around the town.

At 2pm the shops shut and the Christmas markets thronged as people enjoyed final Christmas drinks before heading ...

... and many of the attractions are low priced at around €4. I would only recommend the Innsbruck card if you are going to be in Innsbruck for 72 hours or if you want to see the more highly-priced attractions such as the Ski Jump and the Imperial Palace.

There is a lot to see in Innsbruck, but it is also a beautiful city which you can wander around for hours. It's a truly magical place with many hidden wonders and a real charm about it. Well worth a visit!
