This morning we left our hotel in Dover, Delaware headed for the coast of Virginia. We stopped in Dover to see the Delaware State Capitol, and other old state buildings before heading out. It was small as State Capitol buildings go, but still pretty cool. It reminded both of us of Independence Hall in Philadelphia. After killing an hour we headed for Virginia. Hiking the Woodland Trail to the pony lookout, our expectations were high. As it turned out, the ponies along the road were closer than the ponies at the lookout. We saw them through binoculars, but they were in the shade of trees, as it was quite warm. Bummer.

... but it was a birders paradise! Herons, egrets, ospreys galore. The day ended we a picture perfect sunset over chincoteague bay. We never got the storms here that helped produce the vibrant colors. So my apologies to those in the area who had a wet evening but we sure enjoyed the colors! Tomorrow we may stick around here a little longer to witness a NASA rocket launch. Then it's back to busy beaches as we make our way to Virginia ...
