... the World's Best Sommelier) and indeed his selection is excellent, a fresh and fruity Beaujolais that goes with any meal, goes even better when drunk in a motorhome, on holiday and in France in the Somme by one of the biggest beaches I have seen. So a great Beaujolais, a great aire and a superb beach before we head to Calais to see the vet again for ...

      Le Hourdel

A travel blog entry by johndibbo on Nov 20, 2014

Ended up here agin after inspecting two other aires, both OK but a bit dirty underfoot and one had to pay. It's a reasonable trip up to Wimereux. We've been there before and it is a useful stop before Calais. It was over 200km but mostly on good roads. As we had the time, we decided to use the route nationale rather than the Peage. It takes a little longer, but the peages in Northern France have risen hugely in price, so avoiding €20 or so is ...

... road being the biggest and most varied types of slow moving agricultural machinery we have ever seen . We bought our baguette and found a super market to buy some cheese , all set for lunch . Our plan was to follow a guide in a book called back roads in France ,we did more or less but succeeded in finding our way back to our starting point . To cut a long story short we spent a bit too long on back roads but saw a very impressive fortified town and the baie de Somme where the ...
