... then spent the rest of the day doing nothing - just enjoying the glorious sunshine until dinner in the evening. Today saw the start of the 'Fete de Mer' here in Boulogne so the place is full, we have a boat rafted up next to us - Harviette from Dover a Fairline Phantom with it being really busy. The guys got in late afternoon so we spent the night in our cockpit drinking lots of wine and beers, It seems the most polite thing to ...

Today we crossed one of the busiest shipping lanes in the World - The English Channel. We left Ramsgate at 9.30am this morning and motor sailed down to Boulogne arriving around 6 and a half hours later, dodging the ferries and big container ships in the channel wasn't that stressful to be honest with the weather being very kind to us. We were a little apprehensive early this morning but confidence grew and ...

... golf. Le Touquet is in a beautiful area. No matter where you look it is well manicured and the houses well cared for. It has the feel of an upmarket US area. We played Le Touquet, La Mer, a course a bit like The Dunes which is a favourite of mine. After recovering a bit of my swing yesterday in the rain, I hit the ball so much better. I had a birdie and four four pointers. That ...

    Golf Day Four

Up at 7 am for a good breakfast ((if a little Fawlty Towers) and in the bus to golf by 8.30. Hardelot, Le Pins, was a great course set amongst pine and oak trees but much sparser than other days. It was established in 1905. There were very classy houses set amongst the trees and all was beautiful except the weather. After I had played four holes, the heavens opened and the lightning horn sounded and we had to leave the course. We ...
