His take on the day:

We are in the Somme Department of Region Picardie (for the geographically intense types). The weather is warm but windy and wet. Our stay for the evening is at a 12 room Auberge in a rural area. We took turns to unpack and stacked our luggage on the desk at bedtime so we could safely walk to the bathroom door!

We walked around Dieppe, ate crepes in a bistro near the port with the sun smiling on us. Then we found out about the soldiers who landed there during ww2. ... happy about this) the down side is that I seem to have acquired a ban on going in the sea as every time I run to the edge of the water they call me back which is a bit of a drag.

Wow! That wasn't just 'beaucoup de vent' it was a full scale storm. Monty was rockin and rollin for a good few hours. At one time it felt like he was lifting and moving sideways - he wasn't but it felt fairly intense. The storm passed over and the wind dropped to gale force and the night passed.

We left Fecamp mid morning - the clouds were dark and blowing in off the sea. Just over 200km to our destination, Wimereux.

The camp site here is quirky. It has a red Indian theme. The French are so non-PC! We've been here before and it is close enough to Calais to make it an ideal spot. It's mostly statics of all shapes and sizes but a few yurts and some tepees in the summer, and 20 or so spaces for camping cars. It's big enough to take ...
