... of Constantine and St Helena which is clearly where all the fancy pants people holiday. We went on a very rickety cable car (sorry no photos, I was clinging onto everything for dear life). We laughed at the pot holes. And the best part? We made friends with a lovely Romanian couple and their adorable baby girl. They introduced us to homemade Palinka (!!!), and warned us about the gypsies in Bucharest. And we drank beer! Just the ticket!

... with castle and some Roman ruins but it's now mostly a nature reserve. It's probably most famous for the 40 virgins who tied their hair together and threw themselves off the cliffs rather than being ravaged by the invading Ottomans...

We have really enjoyed this bit of Bulgaria. The weather could have been kinder but in the summer this area could be a really nice holiday (if your a golfer!).

Having heard there were no free slots twice we we trotted along to the pro shop at 9.30 and I was expecting the young lady to phone then but no, the moment she saw me she said "yes it's all arranged your husband is playing Tharacian cliffs at 12.00". Hooray! It was a 1,000 km detour!
Charlie was partnered up with a young German guy who would have been playing on his own? We were mystified ...

... shocked, no one does this for fun.

In a tiny village called Kranevo we came across a lovely looking rustic wooden hotel with an equally nice restaurant in the garden. We let the owner choose our meal we asked for typical Bulgarian dishes and it was all great including the Bulgarian Rakia, a cross between gin and vodka. The urban dictionary says 'extremely alcoholic Bulgarian drink, one shot is enough to raise your forehead ...
