A tourists delight
We left Riva to head for Kaunas, with its magnificent castle, Town Hall and hot air ballooning in abundance.
No screens due to a strained "V" finger from previous flights so suffice it to say we are in Kaunas, Lithuania.

that Villnus deserves to be the capital.
We got to the hostel and I jubilation settled in. This was so much
better. After getting our bearings and meeting one of the 'monks' we
would be bunking with, a lovely Italian guy who had been on the road 3

Beautiful dusty roads and wonderful clean sheets
... again, hoping it would be cooler for us all. Now across the border and well into Lithuania, we didn’t need to worry about roads with ditches dug across them so we ventured down some smaller roads again. And again it was so bumpy and dusty, we got stuck behind a few cars and a tractor so when we finally got back onto paved road we had a nice coating of dust.

... to have an adventurous driver who took his task of finding Ona's roots very seriously. He said that in Lithuania, the men need to know back 5 generations, and the women need to know 6 or 7 generations back in history. So, he thought it was very important for Ona to find the exact village where her grandparents lived.
