Having never been to Paris together, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to experience this romantic city on a short stop on the way to Greece. Some of the highlights of this visit included the usual sights such as the Eiffel tower, Louvre and other museums, but some of the most memorable moments were just the low key things such as strolling among the Tuliere Gardens, sipping wine with a cheese platter at a cafe on the banks of the Seine, and enjoying a dinner on the Champs-Elysee with the A...

I should probably watch that movie before I go around quoting it in blog titles. Anyway.
There are two stereotypes about Parisians: they're rude (particularly towards Americans) and they're smelly. I shall respond to both.
Honestly, I did not notice any exceptional rudeness from Parisians. I actually observed unusual politeness towards each other, and everyone was nice to me--and I ventured out of touristy areas quite a bit. Maybe I was lucky, maybe ...
... too.
We do the halls in this area. Enough Paintings. Out to the Napoleon Room with china cups bowls, plates and little boxes with lots of jewelry on them. Then we go through the Egyptian and Greek displays, then down stairs and around corners where we see Syria artifacts. There is a black copy of a script stone we seen in Syria that said the original is in the Louvre and there it was. We had forgotten all about it until we ...
... is a very grand and beautiful cathedral. A very popular attraction. Next we walked to the Pantheon and the Jardin du Luxembourg. We headed back to Montmartre for dinner and then ventured up the hill to see Sacre Coeur at night. The view from the cathedral is amazing and the church itself is both beautiful and eerie in the moonlight. Monday, our last day in Paris, was truly freakin cold. But it was still Paris and I still loved it. It rained ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France clandybar... at the Pasteur Institute and they have this adorable apartment which they are letting us take over for a couple of days. They are so sweet -- they even had Christmas stockings for Ronan and Mimi ! Meghan is having a baby in February, and she is the cutest, most chic Clevelander-Parisian pregnant lady ! After naps, we ventured out (on foot--they live right in the middle of everything !) to ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France kgraneyThis morning I did my tea and French cartoon thing after DH left for the conference. I then went on a mad search for a crepe. It just sounded so good. There is a crepe place very near the hotel, but there was no place to sit. I thought surely there would be a sit down crepe place around. I walked and walked, by the Renaissance Museum, the Luxembourg Garden, the Sorbonne. I finally got so hungry, I ...
Paris, France deed... laid on bed sans sweaty clothes and drank a $3 Organgina from the mini fridge. Last night I wandered around, had dinner at a lil cafe (lentil soup and foie gras) and slept with the windows open. Yes, this has worked out for the best. Today I have already found an internet cafe (a hagen-daz shop, but very fancy) and a laundrymat. Next I shop for some essentials as I am the only person in Paris wearing a fleece and running shoes. Dork alert. Au reviour
Paris, France gep... I ended up at the Arc de Triomphe for some more photos. I wanted to head towards the Eiffel Tower and ended up on a street that had all the big expensive stores on it like Chanel, Gucci, Jimmy Choos, etc. I was too scared to go in because I was in a t-shirt and gym shoes, but the window shopping was superb. By the time I made it to the Eiffel Tower I was exhausted from all the walking so got some sort of slushie thing from a vendor and lied down on the lawn for awhile and people ...
London, Paris, Switzerland, Austria, Venice, Florence, Rome, Italy kbroder86... Short-legged-fat dog and Howling dog. Now these aren't ordinary dogs, sure they have tags but they don't have a home, unless you consider a whole city your home I guess (the story is back when the Olympics were coming to Athens, the government captured all the stray dogs and cats and gave them all their vaccinations and put tags on them to show visitors that the animals were not a health risk). So there we are, just walking as normal when one dog comes up to us and we ...
