      ... Chiesa di San Vidal, a former church that now serves as a concert hall. Here we heard Interpreti Veneziani, a chamber orchestra performing works by Vivaldi, Handel, and Manuel De Falla. It was an excellent mix of music we knew, along with music that was new to us. Fabulous musicians - thanks for the recommendation Karen and Barry!       ... had decided on a short stay in Venice as it is our most expensive city which it certainly was, and to top it all off, when we boarded the vaporetto to the train station on our way to Florence, we discovered that we needed to validate our ticket which resulted in a €59 fine each.       ... and shops....people everywhere all with cameras and maps all totally lost ....but you really can't go too far as the canals stop you and you just keep switching directions..streets are not all marked on map..all you need to do is follow the signs on the walls to either St Marc or Rialto... Fascinating city.

      Wednesday - had the whole day in Venice. So so hot! Started feeling sick too so spent the morning eyeing up every fountain and wishing I could jump in. But did a walking tour of Venice which was cool, then a glass blowing demonstration. Wandered around Venice for a while, awesome place.       After about 3 hours I decided it was time to sit and eat. Took me another hour to choose a restaurant and I tucked into a 'tourist' meal of fresh vegetable soup followed by chicken escalope with tomato sauce, chips and green salad, All washed down with half a litre of Prosecco of course.
