... If your really on a shoe string budget Venice might stretch you, as it put a fair dent in our budget. You can get lost amongst the hundreds of lane ways, which is probably the best thing about it.. You'll never walk the same street twice and it's almost like one of those choose your own adventure books. It is really up to you what you get out of Venice. Today was do-it-yourself tour day. We went to the huge palace on St Mark's square in the morning, and got a bit lost in the prison cell section.
Over to the Rialto area for some more souvenir shopping, and a quick slice of pizza on the run.
Back to St Mark's square for a Basillica visit and a tour of the museum upstairs.
Out for dinner 'again', nothing memorable except the dessert !
Back to the hotel to pack for an early train to Lake ...

... able to make a cup of tea any time day or night. The highlight of today was going back yet again to La Columbina restaurant for our final meal with them - sadly, they are closed Monday. We had the most amazing mixed seafood Linguine, which we learned later is a classic Calabrian dish. The chef and owner is Calabrian. We had Fritz to drink to begin and pasta and then a dessert of chocolate and vanilla mousse. It was a quiet ...
